When adapting movies into Broadway musicals, it certainly helps to start with a movie that revolves around singing and dancing. Or, at least, a movie that includes some kind of singing or dancing as a major part of the story or plot. That way, adding more singing and dancing should at least have a solid, logical starting point. It would seem, then, that the movie Flashdance is a perfect choice. It's right there in the title. The whole movie revolves around…wait for it…dance! Unfortunately, the Broadway touring production that is visiting PPAC takes a promising start and turns it into a long, bloated and mostly boring slog through two hours at the theater.

FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL delivers on its promise of electrifying dance, but its story is forgettable and fails to inspire.

"There's a time in your life when everything is possible and then, before you know it, there's a time when almost nothing is. This isyour turn. And if you fall you get right back up." These are the words in Flashdance that hold intense meaning to Sydney Morton, our new Alex Owens. In this scene, Alex's mentor, is giving her the inspiration and fire she needs to face her fear of being rejected by a dance school for being different.

The 2013 theatre season brought some truly extraordinary productions, including Motown, which is still playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The musical earned four Tony nominations.

The complete cast for the hotly anticipated upcoming NBC live TV presentation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic family-friendly musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC has now been officially announced.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Felicia Boswell has stepped into the role of 'Diana Ross' in Broadway's MOTOWN, while Tony nominee Valisia LeKae is on vacation. Boswell first began performances earlier this week on August 13, and will remain through September 23 when LeKae returns to the Lunt-Fontanne.

MOTOWN THE MUSICAL's "Jackson 5," led by Raymond Luke Jr. as Michael Jackson, visited Wendy Williams' hit daytime show for a live performance of a medley of Jackson 5 songs and to give Wendy some advice for her upcoming Broadway debut in Chicago. Check out their performance and interview below!
