Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

This spring the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will present Broadway classic Annie.

The new U.S. national tour of ANNIE will play Segerstrom Center for the Arts May 13 - 24, 2015. Audiences will see this new physical incarnation of the iconic Tony Award®-winning show, which is being directed for the 19th time by the show's original lyricist and director Martin Charnin. ANNIE has a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and Charnin's award-winning lyrics. All three authors received 1977 Tony Awards for their work. Choreography is by Liza Gennaro, who has incorporated selections from her father Peter Gennaro's 1977 Tony Award-winning choreography.

Broadway Philadelphia is proud to announce that the new U.S. National Tour of ANNIE will play March 17 through 22 at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Harold Gray, the original creator of the cliff-hanging comic strip that features the pupil-less girl known as 'Little Orphan Annie', may be just a footnote in history, but most people are aware of the musical adaptation, ANNIE, of his creation that premiered in 1977. Even though it was reworked a couple of years ago, that version is not the one that's currently on tour. I didn't see it, so I have no clue what was changed, but I do know that this charming and delightful work by Thomas Meehan, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, still maintains its humor and heart with its heroine's search for love and acceptance during the darkest days of the depression.
