The plot: self-made vindictive wealthy person, inhibited daughter, handsome suitor who may be after her money, parent attempts to torpedo the relationship. Sound familiar? It should. That's basically the storyline of the Henry James novella WASHINGTON SQUARE and the play and film, THE HEIRESS. It's also the basic description of Victoria Stewart's RICH GIRL which takes from the past, but the play which is opening Cleveland Play House's 2013 NEW. THEATRE. FESTIVAL., adds comedy, infuses a little intrigue, and takes a 21st century twist.

The NBCUniversal News Group has been honored with a total of four National Gracie Allen Awards. The 38th annual Gracie Allen Award winners were announced today by the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM). Local market, public, digital and student award winners will be announced later this week. The Gracie Allen Awards will be presented at a black-tie gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

The Off Broadway premiere of Emotional Creature, the newest play by Tony Award-winning playwright, performer, activist, and The Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler, will end its limited engagement as scheduled on Sunday, January 13th. Produced Off Broadway by Carole Black and Pat Mitchell, and directed by Obie Award-winner Jo Bonney (By the Way, Meet Vera Stark) with original music and musical direction by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder, Emotional Creature began previews The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street) on Friday, October 26, 2012, and officially opened on Monday, November 12, 2012.

In its ongoing efforts to combat bullying, the hit Broadway musical WICKED will host a special event tonight, October 11, featuring two leaders in the worldwide campaign to bring an end to bullying: Ben Cohen, MBE, founder of The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation, and Dan Savage, co-founder of The It Gets Better Project. Mr. Cohen and Mr. Savage will be joined by members of the WICKED company for a post-performance talk-back to discuss what can be done to help stop the prevalence of bullying.
