Azuka Oforka’s powerful debut play transports us to the Llanrumney sugar estate in Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica, in 1765, where Elizabeth Morgan (Nia Roberts) lays the law as an unwed modern entrepreneur who’s facing the failure of her crops. All of a sudden, the threat to their survival exacerbates their battle of self-preservation and heart-wrenching compromise. Coming straight from a starry sell-out run at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff, The Women of Llanrumney is a layered exploration of tyranny and endurance directed by Patricia Logue.

Stratford East and Sherman Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for THE WOMEN OF LLANRUMNEY. Azuka Oforka's award-winning, acclaimed historical drama returns to the stage in Cardiff and London following high demand.

With Abigail's Party directed by Nadia Fall beginning previews this week, launching Stratford East's 140th anniversary season, the theatre has announced new shows and events for this milestone year, and Fall's final season as the theatre's Artistic Director. 

Sherman Theatre has launched a new initiative designed to ensure that unheard voices in Welsh theatre become heard.

Having also played host to The Mandela Trilogy opera and new musical Only The Brave, it seems that the Wales Millennium Centre seems to be making a name for itself when it comes to mounting new productions. In its latest venture: Tiger Bay The Musical audiences are transported back to Cardiff in the 1900's, celebrating the heritage and events that shaped it into the city we know today, all woven together with a score by local composer Daf James and an array of Welsh talent in its cast.

Wales Millennium Centre in association with Cape Town Opera presents the world premiere of brand new musical TIGER BAY THE MUSICAL this autumn, bringing the atmosphere and stories of Cardiff Bay's vibrant past at the height of the South Wales coal trade to life on stage at Wales Millennium Centre from 13 to 25 November with opening night for press on 15 November.
