Tony Award nominee Rory O'Malley (THE BOOK OF MORMON) just debuted the world premiere of his autobiographical show, PUB CRAWL, at Joe's Pub on March 10, 2014. PUB CRAWL is Rory's coming of age story that tells the tale of being raised in an Irish pub on the west side of Cleveland by his single mom and all of the bar's eclectic patrons. Using classic Irish pub songs from The Wolftones, U2, Van Morrison and more, the evening will feature music direction by Tony and Grammy Award winner, Stephen Oremus.

Preliminary rounds are hosted across the university's campuses in New York, Shanghai and Abu Dhabi and the best 15 acts compete live at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. UVL, sponsored by the Inter-Residence Hall Council [IRHC] and Tisch Alumni Relations, is now in its eleventh year.
Created by the [title of show] team, NOW.HERE.THIS. is a new musical exploring life's big questions with inimitable humor and humanity. The show explores birds, bees, reptiles, early man, ancient civilizations and outer space. Also, loneliness, friendship, hoarding, hiding, laughing, living and dying. And middle school. And dinosaurs. The show concluded its off-Broadway run at the Vineyard Theatre in April 2012.

The University of Memphis recently welcomed the spirited Broadway and television actress Susan Blackwell as a guest artist. Her workshops, which centered on creative self-expression, were free and open to the public. I attended and found them exciting and worthwhile.

This week's featured composers are Eli Bolin and Sam Forman whose song 'The Way You Move' from their new musical VOLLEYGIRLS, was performed by original cast member Allison Posner and producer Monica Raymund at at the Laurie Beechman Theater.
VOLLEYGIRLS, the breakout hit from the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), adds The New World Stages Development Prize Award to their list of accomplishments. VOLLEYGIRLS, produced by NYMF, MONICA RAYMUND of SISU THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS, and JACOB HARVEY of CAVE 76 PRODUCTIONS, performed to sold-out houses for nine performances in the 10th Anniversary Season of NYMF at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre (The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street, NY, NY 10036) in July.

Using firsthand accounts from some of the biggest names in Broadway history, the book provides a look behind the curtains of the Al Hirschfield, August Wilson, Lyceum, Mark Hellinger, Marquis, Neil Simon, Richard Rodgers, and Winter Garden Theaters.
