Randy Jackson, the only remaining original judge on FOX's AMERICAN IDOL, has issued a statement on the recent announcement from co-judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez that they will be leaving the show after two seasons.

Aretha Franklin told CNN in an email yesterday that she would be interested in becoming a judge on next seaon's AMERICAN IDOL.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lopez has confirmed recent rumors that she will not return as a judge on FOX's AMERICAN IDOL next season. Just a day after Idol judge Steven Tyler announced he will be leaving the show, Lopez broke the news to Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning.

People.com reports that Mariah Carey is considering taking a spot on the judges panel when FOX's AMERICAN IDOL returns next season. 'She's in play,' an insider tells PEOPLE. 'They are in serious talks.'

Steven Tyler has decided to depart his role as a judge on AMERICAN IDOL. Tyler served as a judge during the 10th and 11th seasons of the FOX singing competition show.

People.com reports that Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Fergie, will.i.am and Miley Cyrus are among the celebrities being considered for a spot on the AMERICAN IDOL judges panel when the show returns next season.

As first reported on E! News, the FOX network is currently considering rocker Adam Lambert for a spot at the judge's table on the upcoming season of AMERICAN IDOL.
