Sublime voices overcome a troubled concept.

Madison Opera welcomes spring with Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld on Friday, April 29 at 8pm and Sunday, May 1 at 2:30pm in Overture Hall at the Overture Center for the Arts.

Performances will begin Tuesday February 22nd for Keen Company's World Premiere of the new comedy This Space Between Us by Peter Gil-Sheridan (The Rafa Play), directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein.

The season includes two mainstage productions at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and Tosca and two add on experiences- a night of glamour at the Kauffman Center with Lyric Opera Goes to Hollywood and live performances of Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City today announced an ALL NEW PRODUCTION, Amahl and the Night Visitors, as part of New Visions, Lyric Opera's revised innovative fall programming. Just in time for the holidays, these family-friendly performances will be held Dec. 3 through 6 at the Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building

Lyric Opera of Kansas City today announced updates for the company's 2020-2021 season. The two remaining mainstage season productions of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and Carmen, originally announced as part of the 2020-2021 season in March 2020, are now postponed until the productions can be performed safely.

While it will not be opening The Magic Flute in April due to COVID-19 restrictions, Opera San José has announced something all opera patrons can enjoy at home instead: the FREE live stream viewing of its breathtaking 2011 production of Mozart's first dramatic masterpiece, the rarely produced Idomeneo: ré di Creta.

Set in contemporary Ballybeg, Ireland, the image-laden story of MOLLY SWEENEY commands our attention as we listen closely to visualize what is being described to us from contrasting perspectives. In words and movement, the measured cadence of this economically directed nested narrative metes out minor revelations, each shedding a little more light on how agency and ambition create conflict in an ocularcentric society.
