Wilbury Group Opens Season 5 with New England Premiere of THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY, Now thru 10/12

The Wilbury Theatre Group opens Season 5 with the New England premiere of This Beautiful City, written by Steven Cosson and Jim Lewis, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. Wilbury Group Founding Artistic Director Josh Short directs with music direction by the team of Brien Lang and Milly Romanzi, this fascinating a new documentary-style play with music that details the explosion of America's evangelical Christian movement. This Beautiful City runs tonight, September 18 through October 12 at The Wilbury Theatre Group, 393 Broad Street, Providence RI.

THE BELLE OF AMHERST, William Luce's acclaimed one-woman play of the private yet prolific poet Emily Dickinson, will launch a new production starring Golden Globe Award nominee Joely Richardson ('Nip/Tuck,' Side Effects) and directed by Steve Cosson (The Civilians, Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play). Beginning Tuesday, October 7th, The Belle of Amherst will play a limited engagement at off-Broadway's Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street). The production officially opens on Sunday, October 19th. The investigative theater company The Civilians will lead a yearlong exploration of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's galleries and collections. The first theater group to become Artist in Residence at the Met, they will tease out the narratives in the art, engaging in conversations with curators and immersing themselves in the vast resources of the Museum. This boundlessly creative troupe will introduce theater to the galleries through several new works over the course of a year, beginning today, September 12, 2014.

Co-Hosts Judith Light and Christopher Sieber announced the nominations for the 2014 Drama League Awards, including Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The 2014 Drama League Nomination announcement begins the month of celebrations leading up to the 80th Annual Drama League Awards, which will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) on Friday, May 16, 2014 at noon hosted by Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
