In an annual report released today, Canadian Stage announced the company's third consecutive budget surplus following an award-winning and record-breaking season. This year under the leadership of artistic & general director Matthew Jocelyn, managing director Su Hutchinson and board chair Adrian Lang, Canadian Stage saw an increase in new subscribers and audiences under the age of 35; toured productions internationally; introduced a range of new audience engagement initiatives; continued to revitalize the historic Berkeley Street Theatre, and much more.
From now through September 2014, The Parklot, Minneapolis' new, first-of-its-kind pop-up park, will be the site of Workday Afterparty, a free music/entertainment series on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m.; and Food for Thought, a free lunchtime speaker series on Fridays from noon to 1 p.m., paired with a local food truck. The Parklot is located in the parking lot adjacent to the Orpheum Theatre between 9th and 10th Streets in downtown Minneapolis on Hennepin Avenue. Events are held as weather permits.

Made Here, downtown Minneapolis' new urban walking gallery, today announced that some 40 storefront window 'Showcases' will be installed throughout this June 2014 as part of the largest storefront window initiative in the country. Encompassing 15 venues and covering nearly15 city blocks, Made Here features work by more than 50 individual artists and 11 artist collaborations. On Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. there will be a Made Here Launch Celebration free to the general public in downtown Minneapolis. Details will be released shortly.
