FitzandStartz Productions' Musical Adventure WINTER TALES Comes to Kitchen Theatre This Fall

FitzandStartz Productions launches its inaugural season in November 2016 with an original musical for all ages: WINTER TALES, with book & lyrics by Rachel Lampert and music by Lesley Greene, the founders of the new company. WINTER TALES runs for four performances only: Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and Saturday, November 21 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. All performances will be held at Kitchen Theatre Company.

Kitchen Theatre Company's 2015-2016 Season begins next month! This season marks a major milestone for the theater: the 25th Anniversary Season and the sixth in its beautifully renovated, LEED-certified home at 417 W. State/MLK, Jr. St. in downtown Ithaca, NY. Led by Artistic Director Rachel Lampert and Managing Director Stephen Nunley, Kitchen Theatre Company is Central New York's Off-Broadway theater, a small professional Equity company producing new and modern plays. 'Important conversations happen in the Kitchen' is the motto that has defined the work of this company for over two decades and motivated the play choices in this silver anniversary season. Kitchen Theatre Company's Dance the Night Away 2015 Reaches Goal

Kitchen Theatre Company's 5th Annual Dance the Night Away fundraising event on Saturday, March 21, 2015 was a huge success, raising over $46,000 to support the work of the theater. The event matches local celebrities with Kitchen Theatre Company professional dancers and choreographers who prepare exhibition dances and raise money through sponsorship of friends and supporters.

Kitchen Theatre's LONELY PLANET Begins Tonight

Following the wildly successful world premiere of The House, which rang in the 24th season, Kitchen Theatre Company will offer Steven Dietz's powerful and moving Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet tells the story of two friends, Jody and Carl, who use their wit and sense of absurdity to negotiate the turbulent world at the height of the AIDS crisis. Lonely Planet begins previews tonight, October 15, with opening night on October 18. The play runs until November 2.

But a house full of everything a family accumulates is a lot to pack, so the new owners have given the sellers a few weeks to finish the job.

Theater is a highly competitive field, whether it is one's dream to be on-stage, backstage or in the administrative office. For many, the first step includes an internship. Six recent college graduates have joined Kitchen Theatre Company for season-long internships starting now and finishing in June 2015.

Hangar Theatre's annual benefit returns as an epic battle of charades. Acting Out on the Hangar Stage is a light-hearted FUNdraiser in which local personalities go toe to toe with Broadway stars in an a charades competition to support the theatre's education programs. Four teams will compete by acting out entertainment clues for their teammates and also by fundraising for the event, which will take place at the Hangar Theatre on Saturday, October 5 at 6:30pm.

What better way to figure them out than with a performance piece? AND, LATELY... is a piece d'occasion, a backstage brainstorm about running a theater and checking in with the rest of the world that uses music, movement and text to deliver the story. This is a limited run, with performances May 8th through 19th only.

Kitchen Theatre Company Celebrates Earth Day

The Kitchen Theatre Company celebrated Earth Day 2013 with a press conference to announce that the theater has been awarded LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Over forty people attended the 8:30 AM celebration, which began with a welcome from Artistic Director Rachel Lampert and Managing Director Stephen Nunley. Lampert described the thinking behind the push for LEED certification: "Sustainability was the primary motivation for the Kitchen Theatre Company to find a new home, so LEED certification and all the environmental plusses of building toward that goal went hand in hand with our hopes and dreams for the future."

Kitchen Theatre Hosts Record-Breaking Fundraiser, Dance the Night Away

On Saturday, April 28, Kitchen Theatre Company (KTC) hosted Dance the Night Away, the theatre's 21st anniversary celebration. Local celebrities and members of the KTC staff participated in a friendly dance competition. Performing the Cha-Cha with Dr. Kristna Kapur, dancer Dr. Luis Mauleon raised the most money, winning the competition and a weekend trip to New York City for two. Dance the Night Away raised a grand total of $40,000 for the Kitchen Theatre Company-the most successful fundraising event in KTC history.
