Sony Music Honors Carrie Underwood with Multiple Awards

Musicrow.com reports that Sony Music Nashville Chairman and CEO Gary Overton surprised country singer Carrie Underwood on New York City on Monday with three plaques commemorating recent RIAA certifications.

Image Acquires DEVIL'S KNOT with Colin Firth & Reese Witherspoon

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, acquires Worldview Entertainment's crime thriller DEVIL'S KNOT following its world premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Academy Award nominated Director Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter), the film stars Academy Award winners Colin Firth (The King's Speech) and Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line) as well as Academy Award nominee Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone), Golden Globe nominee Mireille Enos (“The Killing”) and Stephen Moyer (HBO's “True Blood”). DEVIL'S KNOT is scheduled for a Q2 2014 release. The announcement was made today by Image Entertainment's Chief Acquisition Officer, Bill Bromiley.

Tony Winner Audra McDonald Comes to Houston, 10/19

Tony Award-winner and vocalist Audra McDonald is coming to Houston Saturday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. in the Brown Theater at the Wortham Theater Center, presented by Society for the Performing Arts. Accompanying her on stage will be Houston native Andy Einhorn.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, NBC's upcoming live broadcast of 'The Sound of Music' will feature a handful of Broadway veterans to join previously announced Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer. Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle have signed on to play Mother Abbess, Elsa Schrader and Max Dettweiler respectively. Over the weekend, hundreds of pint-sized hopefuls lined up for a chance to audition for a role as one of the Von Trapp children. HBO's TRUE BLOOD to End After Season 7
