When does a one person show click into high gear? Only when the actor in question is up to it. Such is certainly the case with John Leguizamo in his Latin History for Morons now onstage at the Ahmanson through October 20. Tony winning funnyman Leguizamo is a must see. Why? The minute he takes the stage entering a classroom, he charges into the moment with a fury, stopping the applause, 'People, stop! We've got a lot of work to do here and very little time to do it in. I've got to undo your whole education and the entire way you think.' Performing like a teacher, he tries his utmost to do away with the theory of Columbus discovering America and make his ancestors, the Tainos, the rightful heirs to this country.
Following its Tony-nominated hit Broadway run seen by tens of thousands, Tony Award winner John Leguizamo's one-man play 'Latin History for Morons' i s currently running at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from September 5 through October 20, 2019. Hear what the critics have to say!

I have visited Laguna Beach for several consecutive summers, enjoying the vibrant arts scene by spending a full day wandering through THE SAWDUST FESTIVAL, THE LAGUNA ART A-FAIR, FESTIVAL OF ARTS and PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS, with all sites, including the Laguna Playhouse, within walking distance of each on the main street into the city. The beautiful coastal city has so much to offer in the way of fine dining, art galleries, shopping, theatre, beach activities, all accessible via a free shuttle service, it would easily make for a wonderful week-long family vacation site or a jam-packed day of celebrating the arts.
Can we learn to control our impulses before they control us? Conversely, and perhaps even more importantly: can we learn to let them flow when it really matters? Parts of your brain give you impulses and desires, whilst other parts of the same mysterious organ slam on the brakes, based on your long-term goals and society's expectations. Living a productive life in modern society necessitates the regulation of a lot of impulses. But then creativity and spontaneity sometimes require us to let them off the leash. So, which is better?
Culture is what unites us. Music, poetry, art, science, medicine, politics, faith, and values. Culture is also what divides us (see the previous list of examples). With the culture wars intensifying and norms changing faster than you can say 'where's my tribe?', who better to guide us through what 'culture' actually is - how it evolves and who benefits - than a middle class, white, science rapper from Canada?
