It is 1942. At the Falcon Hotel, on the edge of an airfield in Lincolnshire, Teddy, a young bomber pilot is celebrating a reunion with his actress wife Patricia. Events take an unexpected turn, when Peter a famous heartthrob film star arrives, and an urgent bombing mission over Germany is ordered.
Following the opening of Terence Rattigan's Flare Path, the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company today (1 April 2011) announce a further two productions to be directed by Trevor Nunn in his role as Artistic Director. After a three week run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, Nunn's production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead comes to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in June, followed in September by William Shakespeare's The Tempest. Oscar Wilde's much loved play, An Ideal Husband has extended its run at The Vaudeville Theatre by an additional week until Saturday 26th February 2011.
Oscar Wilde's much loved play, An Ideal Husband returns to the West End for the first time in over 10 years. Directed by Lindsay Posner and starring Samantha Bond, Elliott Cowan, Alexander Hanson and Rachael Stirling, An Ideal Husband will open at the Vaudeville Theatre for previews from 4 November 2010.
The final performance of Sean Mathias' production of Waiting for Godot starring Ian McKellen (Estragon), Roger Rees (Vladimir), Matthew Kelly (Pozzo) and Ronald Pickup (Lucky) will take place on Sunday 4 April as previously announced. Mathias' production opened at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in May last year following a UK national tour and has been revived for this final run before the production tours to Australia and New Zealand.
A new production of the Henrik Ibsen classic, GHOSTS, will premiere at the West End's Duchess theatre on March 27th. The production is a new interpretation by author Frank McGuinness and stars Lesley Sharp, Iain Glen, Harry Treadaway, Jessica Raine and Malcolm Storry.
