The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is the exciting musical adaptation that features a thrilling original rock score of the New York Times best-selling novel written by Rick Riordan is playing the Fisher Theatre from February 26th through March 9th in Detroit. The book series has sold more than 100 million copies of book series sold worldwide and the theatrical production had a sold-out run in New York City where it earned three Drama Desk Award nominations including Best Musical. As the son of Poseidon, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, monsters on his trail, and is on a quest to find Zeus' lightning bolt to prevent a war between the Greek gods. BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with Chris McCarrell, who originated the role of Percy Jackson and is currently touring with the show as him, about why fans of the book will love The Lightning Thief and random theatre-goers will be entertained as well - plus so much more! Percy Jackson has hit the road! The National Tour of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has already visited cities across the country, and this March it returns to New York City for a six-performance run at the Beacon Theatre. Below, we chat with the show's three stars, Kristin Stokes, Jorrel Javier, and Percy Jackson himself, Chris McCarrell. Be More Chill is currently playing its debut Broadway run at The Lyceum Theatre. Get a first look at the production below! 

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the musical sensation Be More Chill started previews this past week and has already broken the house record at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre! With the show having previous incarnations at both the Two River Theater in New Jersey and Off-Broadway at the Pershing Square Signature Center, we wanted to know which of its Joe Iconis songs you are most excited to see get an upgrade on the Great White Way!

There is no chill to be found here! In its first week on Broadway, Be More Chill has set a new record at The Lyceum Theatre. With a gross of $738,383.50, Be More Chill breaks the house record for a seven-performance week. The previous record was held by the 2008 production of Macbeth starring Patrick Stewart, which grossed $584,033.

Many of the audience members clearly knew the source material better than I did going in – if the entrance applause and excitement of the people around me was any indicator. However, I think it's safe to say we were all equally charmed by the end – even me, an admittedly jaded musical theater junkie.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Broadway has gotten an upgrade this week as Be More Chill started previews at the Lyceum Theatre! Be More Chill arrives on Broadway this week. Performances start at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street) this Wednesday, February 13 at 8PM.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in the Berkshires (Pittsfield, MA) under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, announced today its 25th Anniversary season, which will feature four world premieres, including the new musical from BSC's Musical Theatre Lab, Fall Springs by Niko Tsakalakos and Peter Sinn Nachtrieb; America v. 2.1: The Sad Demise & Eventual Extinction of The American Negro by Stacey Rose; American Underground by Brent Askari; and Ragtag Theatre's Hansel and Gretel, commissioned by BSC.

PAGE 73 PRODUCTIONS has named Sanaz Toossi the 2019 Page 73 Playwriting Fellow. Selected from nearly 400 applicants, Toossi will receive a $10,000 award and an additional $10,000 budgeted for developing several new plays over the course of the year.
