TRU to Host REINVENTING OFF-BROADWAY Panel at Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre, 7/16

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces its July panel, Reinventing Off-Broadway for a New Audience: Site-Specific, Interactive and Immersive Theater on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 7:30pm at The Players Theatre's Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre, 3rd floor, 115 MacDougal Street, NYC. Doors open at 7pm for networking and refreshments, panel starts promptly at 7:30pm.

ONCE's Elizabeth A. Davis Among Playwrights in Cherry Lane's MENTOR PROJECT, Now thru 4/13

One of the nation's leading programs for emerging playwrights -- Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT -- celebrates its 15th anniversary this season with the production of four new plays by emerging writers -- each of whom is paired with an accomplished mentor playwright -- from tonight, February 20, 2012 to April 13 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan.

Directors, Performance Schedule Set for Cherry Lane's MENTOR PROJECT, 2/20-4/13

Directors Lisa Peterson, Bryan Davidson Blue, Elena Araoz and Chris Henry will direct the four new works debuting as part of Cherry Lane Theatre's 15th anniversary MENTOR PROJECT, it has been announced by Angelina Fiordellisi, Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St. in Manhattan), where MENTOR PROJECT will run from February 20-April 13, 2013. As well, the performance schedule for each production has been set.

MENTOR PROJECT is the recipient of the Ross Wetzsteon Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Development of New Work, along with the 2009 James Kirkwood Award for fostering and promoting the work of contemporary American playwrights.

The League of Professional Theatre Women's 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Will Be Joan D. Firestone

The League of Professional Theatre Women has announced that its 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors women exhibiting exemplary service to the theatre, will be presented by Marsha Norman (playwright) to Joan D. Firestone, Executive Director of The Moth. In addition to its annual Lifetime Achievement Award, LPTW will have Linda Chapman (playwright) present the 2012 Lee Reynolds Award to Kia Corthron, an outstanding American dramatist and activist, and the 2012 Josephine Abady Award presented by Angelina Fiordellisi (Cherry Lane Theater) to Stephanie Ybarra, an Artistic Associate at The Public Theatre. All the awards will be presented at the LPTW's Turning Thirty Awards Celebration, in honor of the League's 30th Anniversary year, on December 6, 2012, at Scandinavia House at 58 Park Avenue, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year's celebration will also be the culmination of a year of celebratory events for the League.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents its next monthly networking panel, Coloring the Great White Way; Part 2: Where are the Producers of Color?, an expansion of the April panel discussion that will focus on the experience of Latino and Asian American producers. The panel will take place at the Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street, NYC. Doors open at 7:00pm for networking and refreshments, panel starts promptly at 7:30pm.

Women's Project Presents World Premiere of WE PLAY FOR THE GODS, Now thru 6/23

Women's Project will end its 34th season with an off-Broadway show of epic proportions when seven playwrights, four directors, three producers and five actors collaborate on one world premiere play titled from the famous Ellen Stewart quote We Play for The Gods. We Play for The Gods stars Annie Golden, Amber Gray, Alexandra Henrikson, Irene Sofia Lucio and Erika Rolfsud. It opens tonight, June 11, at 7:30pm for a run through Saturday, June 23, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street.

Women's Project, the 34-year-old non-profit theater dedicated to producing plays written and directed by women, will present its 2011-12 season of new American plays featuring 20 women theater artists, Julie Crosby, Producing Artistic Director announced.

Playwrights Realm Presents World Premiere of CRANE STORY, Previews 9/6

Borrowing myth and storytelling from east and west to fuse Japanese Bunraku-inspired puppetry with magical realism, Jen Silverman's odyssey of a Japanese-American girl's quest to rescue her brother's soul from the Land of the Dead, Crane Story directed by Katherine Kovner, will have its world premiere presented by The Playwrights Realm at The Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street, when previews begin Thursday, September 6, at 8:00pm for an opening Thursday, September 15, at 8:00pm.
