Celebrating 25 years of making work with and for homeless people, the company will continue its exploration of the state of housing in nine new plays commissioned by Cardboard Citizens from some of the UK's most exciting playwrights

The Traverse Theatre is delighted to announce that award-winning playwright Gary McNair will be joining the Company as a Traverse Associate Artist. Gary joins the Company's family of Associate Artists - a group of writers and directors who work closely with the theatre, sharing and supporting its commitment to new writing and talent development.

The Traverse announces its Spring/Summer 2017 season today, December 12. The work presented has been selected to directly address a mix of both long-existent and emergent social, political and technological challenges, and comes from some of the most exciting companies in the UK.

Rehearsals began today, 12 September 2016, for Grain in the Blood, a brand new production from playwright Rob Drummond, commissioned by the Traverse and co-produced with the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

The Edinburgh-based theatre companies and performers who will present work at this year's Traverse Hothouse showcase are announced today.  They are Alice Cooper with Blue Cow, Black Dingo with Scribble, Brite Theatre with Can This Be Home and Fronteris Theatre Lab with Volante.

Inis Nua Theatre Company opens their 2016-2017 season at the Louis Bluver Theater at The Drake (302 South Hicks Street) with Radiant Vermin by Philip Ridley, with previews starting October 19 and opening set for October 21. From England, this Philadelphia premiere mixes "be careful what you wish for" with a strong dose of unnervingly wicked humor.

Stef Smith's SWALLOW is a confronting examination of the physical manifestation of human emotions as three women deal with life, loss, isolation and identity.

Natalie Dew, Ian Gelder, Stella Gonet, Lisa McGrillis, Sargon Yelda and Ashley Zhangazha have been cast in Stef Smith's new play Human Animals. Rehearsals start on 18 April. Human Animals runs from 18 May 2016 to 18 June 2016 in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs. Press night is on Monday 23 May, 7pm.

Australia's newest theatre company, National Theatre of Parramatta, will open its inaugural season with the potent and powerful production, Swallow, written by Olivier award winning playwright Stef Smith. This Australian premiere production will be directed by founder and former Artistic Director of Force Majeure and Helpmann Award winner, Kate Champion.
