Classical Theatre Company Celebrates Five Years with Gallery Retrospective Today, 9/6

Classical Theatre Company (CTC), announces that it has thrived and survived into its 5th anniversary season! In celebration of all the company's accomplishments, the CTC will host an exhibit spanning the month of September in the Alliance Art Gallery located in the Houston Arts Alliance. The exhibit will provide a snapshot of CTC's history, featuring photographs, costumes, designer renderings, and ground plans from its past seasons. The gallery opening and season kick off party is scheduled for today, September 6th, 2012, at 6:30pm.

OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD Tours UK from Today, September 3

Out of Joint Artistic Director Max Stafford-Clark will revisit Timberlake Wertenbaker's Olivier Award winning play, OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD, in a new production touring the UK this autumn. Looking at the first British convict colony to land in Australia, OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD will launch at the Octagon Theatre Bolton today, 3 September. The production will also visit London's newest venue, St James Theatre, in early 2013.

The Flea's JOB Begins Performances Tonight, 8/31

The Bats are back and in The Flea Theater's New York premiere production of JOB, written by Thomas Bradshaw and directed by Flea Resident Director Benjamin Kamine. Previews begin tonight, August 31, with opening night slated for Wednesday, September 19.

The Ume Group's BUTOH ELECTRA Comes to Irondale Center, Now thru 9/8

Opening the 2012/13 season at Irondale is the magnificent, intense and intelligent Butoh Electra created and performed by the highly acclaimed ensemble, The Ume Group, running tonight, August 29 - September 8. Butoh Electra presents Sophocles' Greek revenge tragedy as the story of a woman whose vibrant inner life is corrupted by the world of walking dead in which she lives.

Choreographer Faustin Linyekula Returns to NYC, 9/17 & 18

The Museum of African Art and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, present the Congo-based director, choreographer and performer Faustin Linyekula as part of the 2012 Crossing the Line festival.

Victory Gardens Theater Presents EQUIVOCATION, 9/14-10/14

Victory Gardens opens its 2012-13 season with the Chicago Premiere of Equivocation, written by Bill Cain and directed by Sean Graney. The production runs September 14 - October 14, 2012 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The Press Opening is Monday, September 24, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

Seeing Place's DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA Gets Off-Broadway Extension thru 8/26

The Seeing Place Theater, known for intensely intimate ensemble work, announces an Off-Broadway extension for their critically acclaimed production of John Patrick Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, a brutal and romantic story of 'Beauty and the Beast in the Bronx.' Due to overwhelming audience response and glowing critical praise, this production is getting a limited one-week extension in New York City.

RELEASE POINT Makes World Premiere at New Jersey Rep Tonight, 8/18

The Seeing Place Theater, known for intensely intimate ensemble work, announces casting for Harold Pinter's The Lover, a 'bizarre theatrical evening' of lust, cunning, and costumes) paired with John Patrick Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, a brutal and romantic story of 'Beauty and the Beast in the Bronx.' Both shows are running in true repertory: same cast, design concept, and creative team, for 2 total hours of compelling programming.

Patrick Breen, Jordan Baker, and More to Lead THE NORMAL HEART AT ACT; Opens 9/13

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today the casting for the West Coast premiere of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer's landmark play focusing on the early years of the AIDS crisis in New York City in the 1980s. Directed by five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, The Normal Heart unfolds like a real-life political thriller as a tight-knit group of friends refuse to let doctors, politicians, and the press bury the truth about an epidemic ravaging the gay community behind a wall of silence. The Normal Heart performs a limited run September 13-October 7, 2012, at the American Conservatory Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). Press night is Wednesday, September 19, at 8 p.m. The Normal Heart is presented in association with Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C., by special arrangement with Daryl Roth.
