La MaMa - the world-renowned theatre complex in the heart of New York City's East Village - today announced the cast for its first production of its 53rd Season entitled "LA MAMA EARTH," featuring works that raise awareness of world ecology and social justice both locally and globally. The centerpiece will be three diverse, international productions and adaptations of William Shakepeare's The Tempest from the US, Korea and Italy. All performances will be at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 East 4th Street, between Bowery & 2nd Avenue).

JEWISH PLAYS PROJECT and Artistic Director David Winitsky, are pleased to announce the exciting line-up of OPEN: The Festival of New Jewish Theatre. The festival officially opened Tuesday night with a special presentation of True Bible Studies by Robert Askins, directed by Benjamin Kamine as part of Into the Night: Downtown's Tikkun Leil Shavuot at The 14th Street Y. The line-up includes readings of new plays by Ben Gassman, Tom Block, M.J. Kaufman, Lenelle Moise, Lila Feinberg and the featured workshop production of G-d's Honest Truth by Renee Calarco, directed by David Winitsky.

Classic Stage Company's new production of Anton Chekhov's tragicomic masterpiece THE CHERRY ORCHARD, featuring John Turturro (Lopakhin), Dianne Wiest (Ranevskaya), Ken Cheeseman (Pischick), Daniel Davis (Gaev), Alvin Epstein (Fiers), Josh Hamilton (Trofimov), Slate Holmgren (Yasha), Roberta Maxwell (Charlotta), Juliet Rylance (Varya), Michael Urie (Yepikhodov), Elisabeth Waterston (Dunyasha) and Katherine Waterston (Anya), has extended its upcoming engagement through Friday, December 30.
