Eli and Edythe Broad General Director Pl cido Domingo has announced the repertory and artist roster for the company's 2018/19 season, planned by Mr. Domingo in collaboration with Richard Seaver Music Director James Conlon and Sebastian Paul and Marybelle Musco President and CEO Christopher Koelsch. The season will include six mainstage productions presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, with additional performances presented elsewhere through the company's Off Grand initiative.

With the remount of the South Asian re-imagining of Shakespeare's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, Rasaka Theatre Co. and Vitalist Theatre Co. are bringing Shishir Kurup's raucous MERCHANT ON VENICE back to Chicago this spring. Directed in 2018 by Vitalist Artistic Director Liz Carlin Metz, MERCHANT ON VENICE explores empathy and grace -- as well as blame, and internalized and externalized religious bigotry, while mixing with the clash/mash of South Asian culture in L.A.

Rehearsals have begun for Center Theatre Group's production of Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Quiara Alegr a Hudes. Cornerstone Theater Company will present Magic Fruit, the culminating Bridge Show of the Hunger Cycle at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles on select dates November 18 - December 10, 2017. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play on! project, which has commissioned 36 playwrights to translate Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English, will present a staged reading of Shishir Kurup's translation of Julius Caesar on Sunday, July 9 at 1:30 pm at the Mountain Avenue Theatre at Ashland High School.

Tickets are available for $150 and include admission to a reception with the artists following the performance. The 24 Hour Plays® Los Angeles will serve as the company's major fundraiser for the year. As part of the kick-off event for the 2016 Kennedy Center (KC) American College Theater Festival, a special preview of the EVERY 28 HOURS PLAYS will be performed and livestreamed as part of KC's Millennium Stage Series. The preview consists of an excerpt of the collection with more than 30 one-minute plays inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, with participation by theater makers and institutions across the nation and showcases the creative outcome of a community outreach residency in Ferguson and St. Louis County, Missouri in the fall of 2015.
