On September 13th, the Dorset Theatre Festival is proud to present the winners of the 2013 Jean E. Miller Young Playwrights competition. This year marks the second year of the competition, which is sponsored in part by the Windham Foundation. Middle and High school students from across Southern Vermont were invited to participate in a series of in-classroom and online mentoring and instruction in playwriting and to generate their very own plays, which were judged by a number of prominent playwrights.
Dorset Theatre Festival is thrilled to present Neil Simon's classic romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park as the third show in their summer season. 'This is a great comedy for our community. It's funny but it also has a lot of heart. It's romantic and appeals to audiences of all ages,' says Dina Janis, Artistic Director. The production will be directed by DTF resident director Jenn Thompson, co-Artistic Director of The Actors Company Theatre in NYC, and a local favorite for her past DTF productions, Noises Off and Boeing-Boeing.

Vital Theatre Company will bring back THE BULLY, with music and lyrics by John Gregor, book by David L. Williams, and directed by Linda Ames Key. The show will run Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 1pm beginning January 14th through February 26th, 2012, with weekday school holiday performances on January 16th and 27th and February 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd at 11am and 1pm. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded the 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship grants totaling $182,600 to 22 New Jersey artists selected from more than 300 applicants in the categories of crafts, sculpture, photography, playwriting and poetry.
