Star of screen, stage, concert and recording star Andrea Marcovicci will be making a special concert appearance at Chicago's premier venue for music, Davenport's, 1383 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago with MOONLIGHT COCKTAIL. The six special performances will take place Wednesday July 31 through Monday, August 5 at 8pm, and Sunday august 4 at 7pm.

San Diego singer Karen Giorgio will make her Desert debut in a new one-woman cabaret style concert at a 2 PM matinee performance onSunday, June 23rd at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center Theater in Palm Desert. The show evolves around Karen's antics on stage and episodes in her life, which resulted in her sub-titling it 'Confessions of a globe-trotting songtress' and features standards and jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook, Broadway, and movie musicals.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has just announced the winners of the 2013 MAC Awards, which were presented last night at the 27th Annual MAC Awards Show. The awards ceremony was held at B.B. King Blues Club, and the show was directed by Lennie Watts and produced by Julie Miller. Lifetime Achievement awards were presented to Tom Wopat and Penny Fuller. The Board of Directors Award was presented to 54 Below, and a special award was presented in memory of Ruth Kurtzman. The Hanson Award was presented to Elaine St. George. The show was hosted by KT Sullivan, with music direction by Tracy Stark, and stage management by Amy Wolk.

Presented by our Mainstage adult performers, these fully-staged musicals based on classic and children's literature are geared toward young and old alike, and are a great way to introduce young members to the theatergoing process. These productions are a great way for TMP to offer additional family-friendly opportunities to supplement our regular Mainstage programming.

There may have been 40 cabaret performers strutting their stuff this past week at the 23rd New York Cabaret Convention at the Rose Theater at Lincoln Center, but the true star of the three-night extravaganza (October 17-19) was the late Donald Smith, the cabaret impresario and guru to the genre's luminaries, who died this past March at 79. Sponsored by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, which Smith founded in 1985, this year's Convention featured numerous homages to Smith from the performers, many of whom had their career's supported and advanced with the help of the colorful and beloved cabaret producer and promoter. Early in Wednesday's Gala Opening Night show, the 'first lady of the American keyboard' Barbara Carroll called her friend Donald Smith 'the quintessential New Yorker,' and when Mark Nadler closed night one with George and Ira Gershwin's 'Our Love Is Here to Stay,' he said, 'Everybody who cares about the myths of these songs are in this room tonight.' Well, it was clear that anyone who cared about Donald Smith was at the Rose Theater for at least one of the three shows.

Andrea Marcovicci, the acclaimed singer and actress, has announced the release of her first CD of new material in five years, Smile, on her own label Andreasong. The new recoding her is based on her show of the same name that will be performed at New York's famed Cafe Carlyle from October 2 to 27 after hit runs in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. The disc can be purchased at CDBaby.com and Marcovicci.com. The CD will also be available at live performances, starting with Andrea's final West Coast performances of Smile at The Gardenia in Hollywood on September 14 and 15.
