Pioneer Theatre Company Artistic Director Karen Azenberg and Managing Director Chris Lino announce a new play reading series for the University of Utah-based professional theatre company in Salt Lake City. Titled 'Play-By-Play,' the series will provide developmental rehearsal periods for three new plays, beginning on February 28, 2014, with the playwright working alongside a professional director and cast for a week-long residency, culminating in three public readings of each play available to theatregoers at a very modest cost. Pioneer Theatre Company has also just announced its lineup of all-female directors for the project.

TheatreSquared will stage the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist, 4,000 Miles September 26 through October 13, 2013 in downtown Fayetteville. This new script from New York-based playwright Amy Herzog will be directed at TheatreSquared by Shana Gold, who most recently directed the world premiere of Food and Fadwa at New York Theatre Workshop.4,000 Miles, the Obie Award winner for Best New American Play in 2012, finds humor and warmth in the story of college dropout Leo, who has bicycled from California to New York and landed on the doorstop of his 91-year-old grandmother, Vera. The Gallery Players will present The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice, its fourth annual production of Shakespeare in the Summer. Othello runs from Thursday evening July 19th, through Sunday afternoon, August 5th. Long-standing member of the Pearl Theatre Resident Acting Company and former Gallery Players board president, Dominic Cuskern, produces. Mark Harborth, Gallery board president and admired director of many Gallery favorites--among them, Noises Off, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chess, and last year's Macbeth--will direct again.

Fadwa Faranesh, a bright, engaging Palestinian woman living in Bethlehem, hosts a cooking program from her home kitchen, where she prepares delectable dishes like tabouli and baba ghanoush in the traditional manner the women of her culture have been preparing them for centuries. To her, food is an important connection between the past and the present.
