Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director of Amphibian Stage, today announced that Hans & Sophie, a new play created by New York-based trio Sean Hudock, Illana Stein and Deborah Yarchun, will have its world premiere at the Fort Worth, TX theatre February 5 - March 1, 2020. Illana Stein, who helmed Amphibian's regional premiere of David Davalos' A Lost Leonardo, will direct.

Southern Methodist University Theatre, Dance, and Music alumni are reuniting in Dallas this winter to produce a full-length, text-driven, minimally produced production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet featuring alumni returning from New York City, Chicago, Baltimore, and Nebraska. Co-directed by Emily Ernst (recent graduate of Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq and Associate Director of Flatwater Shakespeare Company), Joshua L. Peugh (Founder and Artistic Director of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance), and Baltimore-based actor Chris Rutherford, the play will be presented by Fair Assemblya?"the trio's newly formed ensemble led theatre companya?"in the intimate Sanctuary space at Arts Mission Oak Cliff.

The Washington Stage Guild continues its season of great writers with the Washington premiere of Bloomsday by Steven Dietz. This delicate, time-bending romance is set in James Joyce's Dublin on June 16th, the date on which Joyce's Ulysses is set. Robert returns to that city 35 years after meeting Caithleen on a walking tour of Joyce's Dublin. He and Cait meet again and revisit their youthful relationship, amid the echoes of Joyce's masterwork, and the missed connections of that earlier time in their lives. Helen Hayes Award winning Kasi Campbell will direct. A post-show discussion will follow the Sunday matinee on February 2nd, James Joyce's birthday.

Well, aside from a few standout performances, not much stuck. Matt Lucas stepped in to play the role of Thénardier for a few weeks when Gerard Carey was unable to perform before the first preview of the new production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre last month due to vocal injury caused by contracting pneumonia. Last week Lucas regrettably sustained a back injury which has meant he is unable to continue in the role.

This January, as part of a partnership with Newham Council, Stratford Circus Arts Centre is to offer every Year 6 student in the borough the chance to see Inua Ellams' stage adaptation of The Little Prince free of charge. Inua Ellams' fourth show, the critically acclaimed Barber Shop Chronicles, sold out at the National Theatre, where his adaptation of Chekov's Three Sisters, recently opened. The Little Prince which will be produced by Fuel and directed by Femi Elufowoju jr, promises to be a radical afro-futurist reimagining of the classic French children's story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
