The closing night concert for the 2012 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project was held on Friday, June 23, 2012. For the seventh year, the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project hosted the nation's most promising songwriters across all genres including music theatre, pop, jazz, rock, and contemporary pop at Northwestern University. The stars are out for an evening of musical enchantment, sharing songs by the writers who have most inspired them from George Gershwin to Paul McCartney. Featuring one of the leading champions of the Great American Songbook and "the singer who stills the room": Tony-nominated Broadway star Ann Hampton Callaway (SWING!), this one-night-only concert will also include performances from Tony-nominated composer and lyricist Craig Carnelia, Grammy-nominated composer and lyricist Andrew Lippa, Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Lari White, emerging songwriters from the 2012 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project and an appearance by the great Johnny Mercer himself through audio and video recollections where he reveals the writers who most inspired his prolific career.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 15 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fourth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $48,000 to 14 organizations across the country.

Pace University's Musical Theatre Class of 2015 presented a cabaret on May 4th and 5th at at Joe's Pub. The show, entitled Hatched, was a presentation of notable composers' works written in the past three months, including the likes of Shaina Taub, Niko Tsakalakos, Gordon Leary, Julia Meinwald, Drew Gasparini, Zoe Sarnak, Ryan Scott Oliver, and the students of Pace's Inaugural 'Writing for the Musical Theatre' class.

Amas Musical Theatre presents SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL tonight, May 4 through May 6 and May 11-13, featuring The Teen Academy. Performances will be held at 7:30PM May 4-5 and 11-12, as well as at 3PM May 5-6 and May 12-13. The musical will be held at the 14th Street Y Theatre, at 344 East 14TH Street (between 1ST & 2ND Avenues).
