Review Roundup: CULLUD WATTAH Opens at The Public Theater

Written by Erika Dickerson-Despenza and directed by Candis C. Jones, Cullud Wattah follows three generations of Black women living through the Flint Water Crisis. The world premiere began preview performances in The Public's Martinson Hall on Tuesday, November 2 and officially opened on Wednesday, November 17.

Lights Releases Single & Announces 2022 North American Headline Tour

Alt-pop icon Lights has announced the “Baby I’m Back” North American headline tour. The monthlong trek kicks off April 3, 2022 in Portland, OR, making stops at The Fonda in Los Angeles and New York City’s Irving Plaza. Written by Susan Smith Blackburn Prize winner Erika Dickerson-Despenza and directed by Lilly Award winner Candis C. Jones, CULLUD WATTAH follows three generations of Black women living through the Flint Water Crisis.

There’s a huge amount going on in a short time in Colin Teevan’s The Seven Pomegranate Seeds, now showing at the Rose Theatre. Seven stories about maternal pain and loss from the women in the plays of Euripides are transported from classic mythology to modern-day scenarios. Despite this intriguing concept, the resulting production feel rushed and fails to live up to its potential.
