While the U.S. Supreme Court continues to debate the fate of DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) some 60 DREAMers will be in the audience attending Wednesday's Opening Night Premier of ¡Americano! at The Phoenix Theatre Company on January 29th.

Sean Ewing and More Announced in Complete Casting of Broadway-Aimed Musical AMERICANO!

The Broadway-aimed musical Americano!, inspired by the life of DREAMer and community organizer Tony Valdovinos, has announced its complete cast. The world-premiere production, running January 29 - February 23 at Phoenix, Arizona's The Phoenix Theatre Company, will feature Sean Ewing (Broadway's West Side Story, Amazing Grace) as Tony Valdovinos, leading a company including Johanna Carlisle-Zepeda, Maria Amorocho, Edgar Lopez, Alyssa Gomez, Joseph Cannon, Justin Figueroa, Michael Scott, Sonia Rodriguez Wood, Anson Romney, Chris Eriksen, Joseph Cavasos, Matravius Avent, Jessie Jo Pauley, Shani Barrett, Nicholas Flores, Ricco Machado-Torres, Lucas Coatney, Anne-Lise Koyabe, Tarnim Bybee, Cole Newburg, Elyssa Blonder and Aidan Lutton.

Broadway-Aimed Musical AMERICANO! Set to Open at The Phoenix Theatre Company in January

The Broadway-aimed musical Americano!, inspired by the life of DREAMer and political strategist Tony Valdovinos, will premiere at Phoenix, Arizona's The Phoenix Theatre Company, January 29 - February 23. Opening night is January 31. Americano! is presented by The Phoenix Theatre Company and Quixote Productions (Jason Rose, producer), Tony Award-winning producer Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, Godspell, Kinky Boots and Once on This Island) is the executive producer.

New musical AMERICANO! About DREAMers Will Debut in January

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on Tuesday (November 12) on the future of DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and President Donald Trump's bid to end the immigration program. Tony Valdovinos will be watching those arguments and how the Supreme Court rules on DACA. Valdovinos is a DREAMer. His parents brought him to the U.S. from Mexico when he was 2 years old. Tony did not know that until his 18th birthday when he tried to fulfill his dream of serving his country by joining the U.S. Marines.

Pioneering Immigration Musical Set For January World Premiere In Phoenix

He walked into a Marine Corps recruiting station in Phoenix on his 18th birthday to enlist, only to discover his parents hadn't told him that he was an undocumented immigrant. But this DREAMer didn't give up on serving the only country he had ever knowna?"he did it in other powerful ways instead. 

globalFEST: The New Golden Age of Latin Music Tour To Feature LAS CAFETERAS and ORKESTA MENDOZA

globalFEST: The New Golden Age of Latin Music reveals the global energies now at work in the American Latin music scene. The tour is divided into two sections: February 1 - March 3 concerts will feature a double bill with Las Cafeteras and Orkesta Mendoza; and March 7 - March 15 shows will feature a double bill with Las Cafeteras and Mariachi Flor de Toloache.

The McCallum Theatre presents Dia de los Muertos Live, featuring La Santa Cecilia, Mexrrissey, and Mariachi Flor de Toloache, on Saturday, October 28, at 8:00pm. For the first time ever, these three exciting Mexican artists are coming together to celebrate Dia de los Muertos by showcasing the diverse sounds of modern Mexico. Los Angeles-based La Santa Cecilia's unique sound blends Latin rhythms with rock and world music, earning them a Grammy for Best Latin Rock Album. Mexrrissey caringly reimagines songs by Morrissey and The Smiths in Spanish with a definitive Mexican instrumentation and voice. Grammy-nominated Mariachi Flor de Toloache is the first all-female mariachi group, whose distinct interpretation of this musical tradition most recently got them on tour with Dan Auerbach's band The Arcs.
