WTE Presents STINKY FLOWERS AND THE BAD BANANA, 10/7-24

Sinclair, Sam, and Stu discover the audience in their attic. Clearly, these quiet strangers are going to eat them, so they distract the hungry savages by telling them their grandfather's original fairytales. With these vivid, multi-media stories the siblings discover the answer to, 'are we still loved after the person who loved us is gone?'.

TV: Robert Foxworth Stars in King Lear at Old Globe

Robert Foxworth plays King Lear and Bruce Turk the Fool in Shakespeare's tragedy, directed by Festival Artistic Director Adrian Noble. The crowns are swapped in Alan Bennett's The Madness of George III, also helmed by Noble, where Miles Anderson will play King George III and Foxworth will play Dr. Willis. The Festival also includes Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew directed by Ron Daniels with Jonno Roberts and Emily Swallow as the two sparring lovers.

Annex Theatre Closes HER MOTHER WAS IMAGINATION, 8/28

Annex Theatre presents a bold new culture-bending play about a future 'right- thinking' America in Her Mother Was Imagination by local playwright Elizabeth Heffron, directed by Ellie McKay. Theatreworks Presents THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, 8/25-9/19

A sweeping saga of love beneath the Tuscan sun, TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley presents the epic Tony Award-winning musical THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, with book by Pulitzer Prize-nominee Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, based on the 1960 novella by Elizabeth Spencer. Set to the soaring melodies of what the Chicago Tribune called 'the most beautiful score written for the American musical theater in 20 years,' this breath-taking musical is the poignant tale of two extraordinary young people and the overwhelming power of love. Olney Presents DINNER WITH FRIENDS, 8/25-9/26

No one ever said marriage was easy, as Donald Margulies's Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner With Friends reveals. Dinner With Friends plays the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab August 25 through September 26. Pacino-Led MERCHANT OF VENICE Begins Previews at Broadhurst Oct. 19, 2010; Opens Officially Nov. 7

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced the opening date today for the summer's biggest hit, Daniel Sullivan's critically acclaimed production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Al Pacino will reprise his celebrated performance as Shylock on Broadway for 78 performances only, beginning Tuesday, October 19 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street) and running through Sunday, January 9. Opening Night will be Sunday, November 7 at 6:45 p.m.

La Jolla Playhouse Presents Dostoevsky's NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND 9/17-10/17

La Jolla Playhouse presents the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground, adapted by Robert Woodruff and Bill Camp, based on a translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky, directed by Robert Woodruff, running in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre September 17 - October 17 (media night: Friday, Sept 24 at 8:00 pm).

Antaeus Welcomes A New Managing Director

Michael Barker has been chosen to fill the position of Managing Director of The Antaeus Company, concluding a four-month search. Mr. Barker comes to Antaeus from Yale Repertory Theatre, where he served as Associate Managing Director.

Magic Theatre Opens Its 2010-2011 Season With THE BROTHERS SIZE, PART TWO

Magic Theatre opens its 2010-2011 season with The Brothers Size, Part Two of The Brothers/Sister Plays by Tarell Alvin McCraney. The play is directed by Octavio Solis and features recent A.C.T. graduates Tobie Windham and Alex Ubokudom and Joshua Elijah Reese.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting today for the New York premiere of Lisa Kron's IN THE WAKE, directed by Leigh Silverman.

SPIDER-MAN Announces Complete Cast!

Lead producer Michael Cohl today announced the complete cast for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, which begins rehearsals this morning. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will begin previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) on November 14, with opening night set for December 21.

Intiman Presents RUINED 'Farewell Cabaret,' 8/16

Intiman Theatre announces a one-night-only special event, the 'Ruined Farewell Cabaret,' on Monday, August 16 at 7 pm. The concert will feature members of the cast of Lynn Nottage's acclaimed play Ruined performing their favorite songs. Among the artists scheduled to appear are Condola Rashad (Sophie), David St. Louis (Commander Osembenga), Stephen Tyrone Williams (Simon and, recently, Cory Maxson in Fences at Seattle Repertory Theatre), musicians Simon Shabantu Kashama and Ron McBee, and company member Victoire Charles.
