Producers announced today the first North American tour and full casting of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE.

The first North American tour of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE begins tonight, October 7, 2017 in Schenectady, New York at Proctors. The tour will have its official opening October 17, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland at The Hippodrome Theatre.

At last night's GRAMMY AWARDS, the cast recording of Broadway's THE COLOR PURPLE picked up the award for Best Musical Theater Album.

As reported back in 2012, the 1982 comedy film TOOTSIE, which starred Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman, is being adapted for Broadway by Scott Sanders, producer behind THE COLOR PURPLE and more. Now, according to an interview with the Australian, TOOTSIE 'is about a year away.'

Westfield Corporation announced today that Broadway, film, and television producer Scott Sanders, who recently received the Tony Award for his Best Musical Revival of The Color Purple, has been appointed as Westfield's first-ever Creative Head of Global Entertainment. His company, Scott Sanders Theatrical Productions, will be wholly acquired by Westfield.

Los Angeles based Hollywood Scribbler Theatre closes out Presidential Election Shorts, timely and smart short comedies poking fun at American politics and politicians from 1776 to the Present with two final performances Friday, June 17 at 4 p.m. and Monday, June 20 at 8 p.m.at The Lounge Theatre Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA. THE COLOR PURPLE recorded its official Broadway cast album in December, and it is available online and in stores today, February 19, released by Broadway Records. The album is produced by six-time Grammy Award winner Frank Filipetti.
