Los Angeles based Hollywood Scribbler Theatre closes out Presidential Election Shorts, timely and smart short comedies poking fun at American politics and politicians from 1776 to the Present with two final performances Friday, June 17 at 4 p.m. and Monday, June 20 at 8 p.m.at The Lounge Theatre Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA. Tickets are $15.

Comic relief--Just what we need in an election year! The program of six short comedies is the brainchild of Hollywood Scribbler Theatre Artistic Director John Fingal O'Donnell. Says O'Donnell, "I like the short form, ten-minute plays and screenplays, so I founded this company to concentrate on producing short works. I invited writers from all over the world to send short plays about American politics and the Presidential Election. I selected the best from hundreds of scripts. And selected the finest actors I could find to perform."

Actors in the show's final two performances are: Darrell Philip. Detra Jackson, Ron Alan, Patrick Gorman, Cindy Marinangel, Seth Russell, Toyin Moses, Sunil Vernerker, Erin Braswell, and Marc Cervania.

O'Donnell notes, "I selected only the best work that is stage worthy, which is maybe the top 10 per cent of hundreds of scripts submitted from across the nation."

Said playwright Phil Paradis, "It's a great year for political plays. I'm honored to have my play included. The Great Debate satirizes political debate by sound byte and sloganeering, basically the dumbing-down of political discussion." Adds O'Donell, "I'm delighted to be working with these original, timely and witty short plays."

O'Donnell directs all the program's short comedies and co-produces, along with Scott Sanders.

O'Donnell directed "showBiz Shorts" in the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival and produced a short play festival for 15 years with Dennis Safren. O'Donnell worked in production on John Huston's last film The Dead, as well as Hardcastle & McCormack, St. Elmo's Fire, The Arsenio Hall Show, and Seaquest. O'Donnell directed the short film A Man Of The World written by Stuart Matranga and starring Ed Asner, which has played at several festivals. Recently, O'Donnell directed It's Theatre Darling, starring Ed Asner, at the Barnsdall Theatre.
