Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, announced the addition of the Curtis Institute of Music as a new Resident Company of the Kimmel Center, effective April 1, 2015. Curtis joins the existing eight esteemed Resident Companies that call the Kimmel Center campus home including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet, Opera Philadelphia, The Philly Pops, Philadanco, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, American Theater Arts for Youth, Inc. and The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.
Northrop Releases Schedule of Events for Martha Graham Dance Company's 2014-15 Season

Minneapolis, MN (March 25, 2015) – Northrop at the University of Minnesota presents the Martha Graham Dance Company on Fri, Apr 10 and Sat, Apr 11 at 8:00 pm. The renowned company performs two evenings of different programming, including Graham's rarely performed Rite of Spring, and works by international choreographers Nacho Duato and Andonis Foniandakis. U of M student dancers will perform Graham's Panorama both nights as the culmination of an extended teaching residency. Each evening ends with Northrop's announcement of its 2015-16 season, and a reception that follows.

New York City Ballet will open its 2015-16 Season at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, September 22 with eight performances of Peter Martins' production of Tschaikovsky's Swan Lake, through Tuesday, September 29, to launch the Company's 2015 Fall Season, which will continue for four weeks through Sunday, October 18.

The world premiere of a new violin concerto entitled Begejstring ('Excitement') by popular jazz composer/violinist Mads Tolling will headline the Oakland East Bay Symphony's February 20, 2015 concert with Tolling as soloist at the Paramount Theatre conducted by Music Director Michael Morgan. The evening will also include Haydn's Mass in Time of War with the Oakland Symphony Chorus and Pacific Boychoir plus Samuel Barber's Symphony No. 1 (Symphony in One Movement), conducted by Assistant Conductor Brian Nies. Marin Alsop to Lead BSO in THE RITE OF SPRING Next Month

Music Director ?Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Also on the Classical Concert Series program are Barber's Medea's Meditation and Dance of Vengeance and Osvaldo Golijov's Rose of the Winds (BSO premiere). The Rite of Spring is the subject of Maestra Alsop's third Off the Cuff program of the 2014-2015 season, held Friday, January 9 at 8:15 p.m. at Strathmore and Saturday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Meyerhoff. Capitalizing on Marin Alsop's charismatic way of illuminating classical music, the Off the Cuff programs focus on one masterwork, allowing the Maestra to discuss the back story of the piece and the composer's life.
