Teatro Vista, Chicago's largest professional Latinx theater company and one of the country's premier Latinx arts organizations, has launched a search for its next Artistic Director.  

The play, DeliKateSSen which playwright Richard Atkins describes as a psychological thriller with Holocaust elements is having a limited run at the VSA North Fourth Art Center (4904 4th. St., N.W.) in Albuquerque, the first two weekends before Thanksgiving.

The Jeff Awards will honor Teatro Vista with the 2019 Special Equity Jeff Award at the Equity Ceremony at Drury Lane Oakbrook on October 21, 2019. Over the last three decades, Teatro Vista has theatrically depicted the human experience from its unique Latinx perspective. Founded in 1989 by actors Henry Godinez and Eddie Torres to provide a platform upon which stories born of and relevant to the Latino culture could be heard, Teatro Vista has enriched the Chicago theatre scene with haunting, humorous, historical and magical stories. Teatro Vista, now under the artistic direction of Ricardo Gutierrez, continues to challenge and entertain Chicago audiences with its gifted ensemble of dynamic artists.

Teatro Vista announces the world premiere of Stephanie Alison Walker's The Abuelas, a sequel to her acclaimed play The Madres, February 9-March 17, 2019 at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. Press opening is Friday, February 15 at 8 p.m. Regular show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets, $20-$35, go on sale December 17. Today, The Hawk Chicago announced nominations for the inaugural Chicago Theatre Awards, a contest in which all winners are chosen entirely by audience vote. The first round, which invited write-in submissions, ended June 23rd. The official nominees were decided by almost 1,600 voters.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) and Teatro Nuevo Mexico are presenting Silvia Gonzalez S.'s play The Boxcar that recreates the lives of 7 men in a story of extraordinary bravery, passion, love of family, and hope, The play will run September 26-28 in the NHCC's Albuquerque Journal Theatre, 7:30 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2:00 pm Saturday. Due to popular demand, Lookingglass Theatre Company announces additional dates for the World Premiere production of Big Lake Big City, written by Keith Huff and directed by Ensemble Member David Schwimmer. As part of the company's 25th Anniversary Season, the production will run for an additional two weeks, now through August 25, 2013, at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson.
