Damien Jalet Hará Con El Ceprodac El Estreno Mundial De Su Pieza Omphalos

La primera obra en América Latina del destacado coreógrafo Damien Jalet, titulada Omphalos, será estrenada con bailarines del Centro de Producción de Danza Contemporánea (Ceprodac) del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA) en el Teatro de las Artes del Centro Nacional de las Artes (Cenart). Ofrecerá funciones el viernes 19 de octubre a las 20:00, así como el sábado 20 y domingo 21 a las 13:00 y 18:00.

On Friday, October 5 (7:30 pm) at Japan Society, shamisen virtuoso Hidejiro Honjoh joins forces with members of the renowned International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) in 'Shamisen Evolution.' Performing solo and with members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Hidejiro delivers world premieres by Grammy-nominee and MacArthur "Genius" Award winner Vijay Iyer, ICE's own Nathan Davis, and rising young Japanese composer Yu Kuwabara.

El destacado coreógrafo a nivel internacional Damien Jalet estrenará su primera pieza en América Latina en México. El Teatro de las Artes del Centro Nacional de las Artes (Cenart) recibirá Omphalos los días 19, 20 y 21 de octubre, en la que el creador profundiza en su investigación sobre los rituales del cuerpo, el tiempo y la muerte.

Avex Classics International Launch Avex Recital Series 2019

Following the continued successes of the Avex Recital Series, Avex prepare to launch their dynamic 2019 programme at Wigmore Hall with a special concert by Nobuaki Fukukawa - winner of the 77th Music Competition of Japan Horn Division in 2008. While proudly welcoming back renowned shamisen player Honjoh Hidejiro, the 2019 season will also present the Series' first singer Sara Kobayashi as it returns in its fourth year even bigger and better than before.

Japan Society's music season opens on Friday, September 14 (7:30 pm) with a recital titled 'Hauta Shamisen: Edo-Period Love Songs' by internationally acclaimed shamisen (three-string Japanese banjo) master Hidetaro Honjoh. Known for the skill of his playing and the richness of his singing voice, Hidetaro started playing the shamisen at age 11 and quickly became a professional player under the tutelage of two renowned shamisen masters. He is the founder of the Risougaku style of playing, updating traditional folk songs (minyo) to make them more relevant to contemporary tastes. He has been awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon, Japan's highest honor for artists.

Anne Akiko Meyers To Perform With SB Symphony

Acclaimed violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, one of the world's top-selling classical instrumentalists, will appear with the Santa Barbara Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, at the Granada Theatre on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20. Featuring Vivaldi's Double Violin Concerto - which will see Ms. Meyers team up with Santa Barbara Symphony Concertmaster Jessica Guideri - as well as Barber's lyrical Violin Concerto and Rimsky-Korsakov's magnificent romantic suite Scheherazade, the performances will take place at 8 pm on May 19 and at 3 pm on May 20. John Zorn's Iconic Venue The Stone Moves to The New School

John Zorn and Executive Dean Richard Kessler announced today that The Stone, the landmark non-profit performance space founded in 2005 by John Zorn and dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde, will move to The Glass Box Theater at Arnhold Hall on 55 West 13th Street, in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village.

Colburn School Honors Violinist Akiko Meyers At TASTE OF COLBURN, 3/18/17

On March 18, 2017, the Colburn School will honor alumna Anne Akiko Meyers at Taste of Colburn, an annual benefit event held on the school's Grand Avenue campus to support scholarship funds for the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts. Ms. Meyers will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. In recognition of their philanthropy and contributions to the Colburn School community, Alice and Joe Coulombe will be recognized as civic honorees.
