What the cast and director are doing here is offering a solid, slick, and oh so faithful rendition of ROCKY HORROR. Director Mitchell Greco relies on the strength of the fortysomething year-old material, and lets his vision grow gorgeous images and sumptuous arrangements.
THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS, THE MUSICAL! Is as much of a self-explanatory title as any theater-goer could ever want or pine for. It's definitely a musical about musicals that has musical number after musical number, and its own sardonic take on the form over the past fifty or so years.
The show is genuinely moving, entertaining, and a fast-paced, all around fun time for the entire family. Don't be quick to assume you can't take your date to see SHREK just because the production is part of Main Street Theater's Theatre for Youth program. The performance is open to the public, and the narrative and jokes will have both children and adults raving.
She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Main Street Theater continues its 2015-2016 Theater for Youth season with the delightful antics of the much-beloved character Junie B. Jones.
'Bonjour! I am so excited to be producing this show during the 10th Anniversary of the book series,' says Vivienne M. St. John, Theater for Youth Producing Director at Main Street Theater. 'Fancy Nancy is quickly becoming an iconic series of books. Nancy's love of dress-up, tea parties, ballet, French words, and any and all things fancy utterly delights so many little girls -- and encourages them to become young readers.' This musical adaptation of Jane O'Connor's hit books will play Saturdays, June 13 - August 1 at 10:30am, 1pm, and 4pm at TALENTO BILINGUE DE HOUSTON (performances are in English), 333 S. Jensen Dr., Houston, TX 77003. Ticket prices for public performances are $20 and $18. Tickets are on sale in person at the Main Street Theater Box Office at 2540 Times Blvd. in Rice Village, via phone at 713.524.6706 or online at MainStreetTheater.com. Group rates are available. Houston audiences adore Betsy Kelso and David Nehls' THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. The raucous musical originally opened Off-Broadway in September 2005. Stages Repertory Theatre initially brought the musical to Houston in a production that ran from July 12, 2006 to March 31, 2007. Due to popular demand, they brought the show back from June 1 to September 4, 2011. Now, Standing Room Only Productions is presenting their take on the popular musical, ensuring that Houston's summer theatre season sizzles with witty, boisterous entertainment.
