THE BATTLE OF SPANKTOWN Premieres at FringeNYC 8/14

The Potluck presents THE BATTLE OF SPANKTOWN by Jeffrey Pfeiffer as part of the 14th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. Heidi Handelsman, who helmed MARY BRIGIT POPPLETON IS WRITING A MEMOIR in the 2007 FringeNYC and Encore Series, directs.

Sweden's Goteborg Ballet Makes American Debut at Jacob's Pillow, 8/18-8/22

Swedish contemporary dance company, The Göteborg Ballet, makes its American debut at Jacob's Pillow August 18-22. The company will perform a full-length production, 3xBoléro; three diverse works each inspired in a different way by Maurice Ravel's classic score, 'Boléro.' The works that comprise 3xBoléro showcase twenty classically-trained dancers from this leading Nordic company and three leading European choreographers. While Ravel's score provides the artistic impetus to 3xBoléro, the pieces utilize a unique spectrum of composers and dance vocabularies, in musical styles ranging from minimalist electronica through full scale orchestral recordings.

Stavovské divadlo je jednou z nejkrásnijších historických divadelních staveb v Evropi. Aristokrat František Antonín hrabi Nostic Rieneck, vystielil touhou zvýšit kouzlo jeho rodného mista a myslích svých spoluobiani, byl postaven stavby. Trvalo ne docela dva roky postavit a divadlo bylo oficiálni otevieno v roce 1783 první vystoupení této tragédie Emilia Galotti do Lessing. Pivodni bylo divadlo daboval Nosticovo hrabicí divadlo. NY Philharmonic Ends Seventh Season of Summertime Classics, 7/10

The New York Philharmonic will present its seventh season of Summertime Classics, with nine themed concerts, conducted and hosted by Bramwell Tovey, June 29-July 10, 2009. The first program (June 29-30), entitled 'From Russia with Love,' will offer music by great Russian composers such as Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Glazunov, with the Philharmonic debut of violinist Mikhail Simonyan performing Tchiakovsky's Violin Concerto.

Hecht, Baker et al. Lead Williamstown Theatre Festival this Summer; Casting Announced

Artistic Director Nicholas Martin has announced the casting for the next three productions of the Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2010 Season: Our Town by Thornton Wilder, playing the Main Stage July 28 - August 8, Fifth of July by Lanford Wilson playing the Main Stage August 11 - 22, and the world premiere of After the Revolution by Amy Herzog on the Nikos Stage July 21 - August 1.

The Jewish Museum Hosts Curious George Family Fun

The Jewish Museum will present an afternoon of Curious George Family Fun, inspired by the exhibition, Curious George Saves the Day: The Art of Margret and H. A. Rey, on Sunday, July 18 from 1 to 4 pm. Highlights of the day include a drop-in art workshop, self-guided gallery tours of the exhibition, and a special guest appearance by Curious George himself.

Edward Albee's rarely-seen 'Everything in the Garden' will be the first play to be read in The Peccadillo Theater Company's new 'The Plays-You-Should-Know-And-Probably-Don't Reading Series' on Monday, June 21st (3PM) at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street.)

Butz, Murphy, Irwin et al. Begin Filming 'Higher Ground' in New York

Variety.com reports that Norbert Leo Butz (Tony-winner for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS), Donna Murphy (Tony-winner for PASSION and THE KING AND I), and Bill Irwin (Tony-winner for WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?) are set to appear in the upcoming 'Higher Ground,' now filming in New York state. Vera Farmiga (Academy Award-nominee for 'Up in the Air') will direct and star in the film, which will also feature Joshua Leonard ('Humpday'). The screenplay is based on a memoir by Carolyn Briggs about her experiences with radical Christianity.
