The Old Globe today announced it will present the Second Annual New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, this weekend, December 12 - 14, 2014.

Following its New York premiere at the 2013 Under The Radar festival and an international tour, BRIC will present Rodney King, Roger Guenveur Smith's solo performance on the legacy of Rodney King. The Kirk Douglas Theatre was originally an historic 1940s Streamlined Moderne-style movie house called the Culver Theater, and it is believed that Kirk Douglas' movie "Spartacus" played there in the early 1960s. In 2003 it was transformed into an intimate 317-seat live theatre venue and named for the theatre's initial major donor: Kirk Douglas. On Tuesday, October 14, 2014, CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre celebrated its 10th birthday with Anne and Kirk Douglas in attendance.

The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, have announced the ninth round of Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships recipients. The program is designed to support actors' professional and artistic development, to enrich relationships between actors and nonprofit theatres and to ensure continued professional commitment to live theatre. Funded by the Fox Foundation and administered by TCG, the fellowship is one of only a few programs of its kind for actors in the country.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is bringing back the bird and reuniting the entire cast and creative team of Aaron Posner's Stupid f**king Bird after its runaway success in the summer of 2013. Nominated for eight Helen Hayes Awards and winner for Outstanding Resident Play and Outstanding New Play or Musical, Stupid f**king Bird is directed by Woolly Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz and runs for three weeks: July 28, 2014 through August 17, 2014.

On July 11 at the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival, BRIC will honor the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with Vote, It Ain't Illegal Yet!, a special multimedia concert directed by author/filmmaker/journalist Nelson George. The evening, presented Squarespace, will include contributions from Burning Spear, Vernon Reid, Maya Azucena, Roger Guenveur Smith, Carl Hancock Rux, Ramya Ramana and more. D-Nice provides musical direction. The concert, which begins at 7:30 P.M. with a performance by Fredericks Brown, is free to the public (with a suggested $3 contribution at the gate).
