Bickford Film Series Salutes 50th Anniversary of THE PRODUCERS

The Bickford Theatre celebrates the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest comedies to ever hit the big screen, The Producers, written and directed by the legendary Mel Brooks and staring Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, Dick Shawn, and Kenneth Mars. The film won an Academy Award in 1968 for Best Original Screenplay.

Baryshnikov Arts Center To Screen THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI with Live Music Performed by Puck Quartet

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its Spring 2018 Music Series on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 7:30pm with a screening of the 1920 silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, accompanied by the New York premiere of an inventive score for the film by Stephen Prutsman performed live by New York's Puck Quartet. The film tells the story of a hypnotist who uses a sleepwalker to commit crimes. Directed by Robert Wiene, written by Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer, and dubbed “the first true horror film” by critic Roger Ebert, it is considered a classic.

COMMITTED Begins Performances Tonight

Committed, presented by New York Theater's Winterfest, begins performances tonight at 6.15pm at The Hudson Guild Theater (441 West 26th Street), with additional performances on Saturday, February 10th at 8.30pm and Sunday, February 11th at 1.00pm.  Written by award winning director, Tricia Brouk (Romance and Cigarettes, "Sublets," This Dinner is Full), Committed features 10 original songs by lyricist/composer Andrew David Sotomayor (50 Shades of F***d Up).

Santa Barbara Symphony To Perform Alongside Film Screenings

The Santa Barbara Symphony, under the baton of guest conductor Carolyn Kuan, will perform John Corigliano's Academy Award-winning score for The Red Violin, accompanied by Fran ois Girard's engrossing film in its entirety, at the Granada Theatre on Saturday, January 20, and Sunday, January 21. Featuring Canadian violinist Lara St. John as soloist, the concerts will take place at 8 pm on January 20 and at 3 pm on January 21. '90s Oscar-Winner THE ENGLISH PATIENT Added To 2018 Films In Concert Strand

One of the most acclaimed film scores of recent decades will be heard live for the first time as the Royal Albert Hall presents The English Patient Live. The beloved 1996 epic, which scooped nine Oscars including best score, is the latest movie to be celebrated in the venue's hugely popular Films in Concert strand, after the likes of Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings and The Godfather.

DRACULA, Accompanied by Kronos Quartet, to Haunt Segerstrom Center

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Segerstrom Center for the Arts will co-present Tod Browning's 1931 film classic DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi with original music by Philip Glass performed live by the legendary composer at the piano, the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet, with Michael Riesman directing from the keyboard.

LACO@theMovies Features World Premiere Of Jeff Beal Score-Buster Keaton's THE GENERAL

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, celebrating its roots in the film and television recording industry, presents LACO @ the Movies: Buster Keaton's The General, featuring Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards) conducting the world premiere of his score for the 1926 silent classic spotlighting the absurdity of war on Saturday, November 11, 2017, 8 pm, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, in downtown Los Angeles. Currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, LACO was founded in 1968 as an artistic outlet for the recording industry's most gifted musicians. The Orchestra, regarded as one of the world's premier chamber orchestras as well as a pacesetter in presenting wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous commissions, performs live to The General for this entertaining evening. Considered among the greatest films ever made, the historical parody was adapted from The Great Locomotive Chase and is set during the Civil War. The Theatre at Ace Hotel was built in 1927, just a year after The General was made.
