HAMILTON's Daveed Diggs Joins BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! Lineup

Daveed Diggs - one of the breakout stars of the Broadway musical HAMILTON - has joined the line-up for BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! - the sixth annual concert, featuring Broadway stars in an evening of music and comedy that benefits the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, it has been announced by the event organizers.  BROADWAY BELTS takes a leap this Leap Year and will be presented at a larger venue due to increased demand with more glamour, more songs, more seats (!) on Sadie Hawkins Day, Monday, February 29 at 7 pm at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47 St.) in New York City.

AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS - featuring Fred Barton & His Orchestra and starring a cast of today's best Broadway performers - will present "An Evening with Cole Porter" at Pace University's Schimmel Center in New York on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 PM and then Kingsborough Community College's Goldstein Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 5 at 8:00 PM.  The cast of outstanding Broadway performers includes Beth Leavel (Tony Award winner for The Drowsy Chaperone), Sean McGibbon, Paula Leggett Chase, Damon Kirsche, Karen Murphy and Jesse Luttrell in addition to the Scott Thompson Dancers. The show is produced, orchestrated, conducted and hosted by Fred Barton with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson.

Tonight, October 9, noted orchestrator and conductor Fred Barton will bring the music of Broadway and the American Songbook to the Schimmel Center at Pace University, in American Showstoppers: An Evening of Johnny Mercer. In his seventh concert at Pace, Fred Barton now brings the power of Mercer's music and lyrics front and center, with a 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 16 Broadway singers and dancers, with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson. The cast is headlined by Damon Kirsch, Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams, two time Tony nominee Vivian Reed, Nick Spangler, Tony Nominee Lauren Worsham, and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba. The cast also features Jesse Luttrell, Sean McGibbon and Molly Pope.

BRUSH STROKES to Offer Encore Performance as Part of NY THESPIS Theater Festival

Out of 65 productions in the NY THEISPIS Theater Festival, Brush Strokes, a new musical, has been selected for one of the six Encore Production.  This special showing will be next Monday, September 28th at 8:30 pm at the Hudson Guild Theater, 411 West 26th street (between 9th & 10thAvenues), NYC. The cast for the new musical is Joy Franz, Chuck Muckle and Hannah Seusy. The musical is written by Stephen Chinlund & Jim Semmelman; with music by Bert Draesel; and lyrics by Jim Semmelman.  It is directed by  Kathleen O'Neill, with set design by April Bartlet, lighting designer by  Dan Henry, and the musical director is  Kenneth Gartman.  The hit musical closed this weekend with a Sold Out show and people turned away.

Brush Strokes is a new musical that has been selected for the NY THEISPIS Theater Festival. Performances are at the Hudson Guild Theater, 411 West 26th street (between 9th & 10th Avenues), NYC. Today in 1993, the second Broadway revival of Camelot opened at the George Gershwin Theatre, where it ran for 56 performances. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, ran on Broadway for 873 performances, winning four Tony Awards and spawning several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version. The 1993 cast starred Robert Goulet, Steve Blanchard, and Patricia Kies.

Today in 1957, Brigadoon opened at the Adelphi Theatre, where it ran for 47 performances. Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as 'Almost Like Being in Love' have become standards. The story involves two American tourists who stumble upon Brigadoon, a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. Tommy, one of the tourists, falls in love with Fiona, a young woman from Brigadoon. The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk.

Brigadoon then received a West End production opening in 1949 that ran for 685 performances, and many revivals followed. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk.
