Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), announces that Lisa Portes is the recipient of the 2016 Zelda Fichandler Award, which recognizes an outstanding director or choreographer who is transforming the regional arts landscape through singular creativity and artistry in the theatre. The award heralds accomplishment to date and promise for the future, artistic vision, and deep commitment to a region outside of New York. It carries an unrestricted grant of $5,000 to the individual recipient.
Rehearsals begin today for the European premiere of David Bowie and Enda Walsh's LAZARUS, ahead of preview performances from Tuesday 25 October in a brand new 900-seater venue at Kings Cross Theatre built specifically for the production. Playing for 13 WEEKS ONLY until Sunday 22 January 2017, LAZARUS will have its official opening night on Tuesday 8 November 2016.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Hugh Jackman will be polishing his dancing shoes for an all-new stage show set to tour throughout his native Australia later this year, and in a recent interview with the Herald Sun, he spilled the beans on what the show is all about. He told HS: 'The story is pretty much about my life, not only biographically, but the things that I love. What guided me was that I wanted to love every single song. I'm going to do songs from shows that I've done that I love; and songs from shows that I've never done but always wanted to do; and dance and tell stories.'
