As BroadwayWorld announced just last week, BroadwayWorld's longtime TV host, Richard Ridge married his partner of 37 years, Preston Ridge in a small and private ceremony on Wednesday morning. Here's to many happy years of health, love and happiness. Prior to his long tenure with BroadwayWorld.com, Ridge toured the world as a performer and hosted the popular television program Broadway Beat. Just last night, BroadwayWorld.com continued its 2014 concert series at legendary cabaret venue Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, hosting a uniquely contemporary evening celebrating the music of the two most important and influential composers on Broadway in the modern age, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim, all to benefit the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The Theatre Museum awarded its 2014 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence at the Players Club, on Tuesday May 27, 2014. The mission of The Theatre Museum is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate the legacy of the theatre. It is the first and only chartered non profit museum dedicated to the history of Theatre. Since 1995 The Awards for Excellence have recognized individuals and organizations for their contribution to theater arts, education, theater history and preservation.

On Monday evening, BroadwayWorld.com was proud to watch its CEO and Founder, Robert Diamond, receive the 2014 Theatre Museum Award for Excellence in Arts Education. That same evening, Fathom Entertainment received an award for Excellence in Theatre History Preservation, which was presented to their new CEO, John Rubey.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will launch its 2014 developmental reading series at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts with a special presentation of Peggy-Ann, the hit 1926 musical comedy with a book by Tony Award winner Herbert Fields (Annie Get Your Gun) and a score by the legendary songwriting team of Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart (Pal Joey, On Your Toes). The reading, directed by Ben West (Unsung Carolyn Leigh, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), will be held Thursday, May 22 at 2:30 PM in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

Last night, BroadwayWorld produced an elegant and elaborate celebration all about the man behind the music for such legendary and unforgettable musicals as GYPSY, FUNNY GIRL, GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, PETER PAN and many more - the incomparable Jule Styne - all to honor the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of America.

Saturday night, May 3rd, after Kristin Chenoweth wowed 'em at Carnegie Hall, the star's family, friends and guests were invited to a very intimate party at New York's Palace Hotel. The famed property threw Ms. Chenoweth the congratulatory party with the Palace Hotel's Timothy Kirkpatrick, Bebhinn Gallen, Lauren Rebholz and friend Angelique O'Neil, who worked tirelessly to make her special night even more special.

Editor's Note: I've known composer Scott Alan for almost as long as BroadwayWorld.com has been in existence. We met very shortly after the web site started, and were excited to showcase one of his first songs, 'Never Neverland (Fly Away)' at our first ever concert at Joe's Pub (sung by the wonderful Stephanie J. Block). I was intrigued by the album after seeing a preview of the cover art (by the uber-talented Logan Hicks), and even more curious to hear the album itself, his first to feature just himself instead of the usual line-up of talent from Broadway and beyond. There's always something special about hearing a composer sing his own songs, but I was still unprepared when he shared with me a preview copy for a first listen. What I didn't expect as I hit play was for it to 'ruin' my entire afternoon, as I found myself both unable to concentrate on anything else, and, as it completed, I quickly hit 'repeat' to bring me back to the first track and listen all over again. Then, I wrote him my first fan letter, and asked him if he'd share both a track (of my choosing) as well as a note explaining the origins of both the album, and the song.

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) announced today that Artistic Director Tom Wojtunik will be stepping down from his position as Artistic Director on June 30th, 2014. During Wojtunik's six years as Artistic Director, he successfully raised the company's artistic profile and solidified APAC's place as a respected developer and producer of new works. For his final production, he will direct Rodgers & Hammerstein's rarely seen Allegro, opening May 1st, 2014. (Critics are invited to all performances.)

This Today, The New School for Drama, SAG Foundation, and BroadwayWorld.com will present a 90-minute career Conversations with Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale, starring together in Broadway's The Bridges of Madison County. Moderated by BroadwayWorld.com's Richard Ridge, O'Hara and Pasquale will share experiences from their careers on stage and screen and their current collaboration with a packed house of more than 400 union actors and drama students at The New School's John L. Tishman Auditorium.

This Thursday, The New School for Drama, SAG Foundation, and BroadwayWorld.com will present a 90-minute career Conversations with Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale, starring together in Broadway's The Bridges of Madison County. Moderated by BroadwayWorld.com's Richard Ridge, O'Hara and Pasquale will share experiences from their careers on stage and screen and their current collaboration with a packed house of more than 400 union actors and drama students at The New School's John L. Tishman Auditorium.

On February 24th, 2014, BroadwayWorld.com continued its SOLD OUT 2014 concert series at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, hosting an emotional all-star tribute concert and benefit, celebrating the music of 'bare' composer Damon Intrabartolo, at Joe's Pub in New York City, directed by his longtime collaborator, friend and Tony-nominee Kristin Hanggi with musical direction by Jesse Vargas.
