I CAN'T WAIT: THE SONGS OF PATRICK DWYER, a new revue of songs by the theatre/cabaret songwriter, will be presented at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, 61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue, on Saturday February 25 at 4:30pm and Monday February 27 at 7pm. The hour-long show will feature the vocal talents of Teal Wicks, Robb Sapp and Tally Sessions.

Theatreworks USA hosted its 50th Anniversary Celebration gala last night, February 12, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Broadway legend and Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch appeared as the Special Guest Performer for the gala, which also featured appearances from Special Guest Presenters Kathleen Chalfant, Nathan Lane and Sara Ramirez. Cast of York Theatre Company's hit Enter Laughing, The Musical to appear at performance/CD signing Tuesday, September 21 at 5 PM at Barnes and Noble, Lincoln Triangle.

The classic French fairy tale, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, is given the full-blown Disney treatment in this adaptation of their own 1991 animated film. While retaining many of the elements that gave the movie it's own particular charm, this version runs a bit too long and leisurely for my tastes, being padded out with additional, and largely forgettable songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, some of which were cut from the movie. But, there's no denying the appeal of this material, and the large contingent of families in attendance on a muggy night at the Muny all seemed to be having a great time with this appealing and fun production that kicks off their 2010 season.

The event is to feature the talents of Donna McKechnie, Mary Beth Peil, Paige Davis, Will Chase, Aaron Lazar, Felicia Finley, Dan Reichard, Christiane Noll, Robert Petkoff, Steven Goldsmith, Shonn Wiley, Michael Cunio, and Michael Ingersoll.
