Deadline reports that Philip Seymour Hoffman is in talks to join Daniel Espinosa's CHILD 44 from Summit Entertainment.

According to Deadline.com, Philip Seymour Hoffman is in negotiations for CHILD 44, directed by Daniel Espinosa for Summit Entertainment. He would join Tom Hardy, Roomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman.

MUSIQA Houston opens its 2012-13 season on September 22, 2012, with the world premiere of Deep Sky Objects by the internationally acclaimed American composer Sebastian Currier. Set to poetry by Sarah Manguso, whose libretto imagines an intergalactic romance, Deep Sky Objects is scored for soprano, piano quintet and electronics; the performance will feature soprano Karol Bennett. The program includes Divided and Scatter-brained from Currier's QuartetSet with the world premiere of choreography by Tina Bohnstedt, danced by Houston Ballet II; and Secret Alchemy for piano quartet by Pierre Jalbert , as well as a set of violin-piano preludes by Lera Auerbach.

Houston Grand Opera announced today that it has commissioned its newest Song of Houston project, an extended song cycle in celebration of the eightieth anniversary of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Andrea White - noted author and wife of the former Mayor of Houston, the Honorable Bill White- has been invited to create the texts that will be set to music by selected students from the University of Houston Moores School of Music.
