Twelve outstanding Music Academy of the West musicians have been selected by audition to travel to London this April for ten days of intensive training with the London Symphony Orchestra [LSO] and its Music Director Sir Simon Rattle, as part of the second year of the Linda and Michael Keston Music Academy of the West Exchange (Keston MAX) with the LSO.

Hailed as an exceptional virtuoso on both classical and electric guitar, Nadav Lev reveals the rich diversity of sound and style in contemporary guitar music on his latest album, New Strings Attached. From solo to chamber, from through-composed to improvised, and with a definitive guitar repertoire alongside new music written especially for Lev by Israel's most prominent young composers, the album's broad sonic spectrum acts as a barrier breaker between traditions and musical languages. Featuring collaborations with nine world-renowned musicians and vocalists, New Strings Attached serves as yet another living testimonial to the endless faces of the contemporary guitar.

The Theater at the 14th Street Y is proud to present three explosive events as part of the 2015 Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference. The 14th Street Y APAP Showcases include the 14th Street Y Dance Festival, presenting twelve innovative dance companies in two diverse programs; LABA MUSIC, a showcase of award-winning opera and contemporary music by Israeli and Jewish composers; and LeeSaar The Company/OMTA's immersive dance-theater performance, CLOSE UP. Multi-faceted guitar virtuoso and 2013-14 LABA fellow Nadav Lev brings forth a diverse selection of pieces for guitar and various ensembles, all written for him by some of the most prominent young composers to emerge from Israel.

After three successful years at The Tank, composer and curator Guy Barash's contemporary music series, Eavesdropping, is relocating to Spectrum to kick off a fourth year of exciting programming. 'We are thrilled for this collaboration and look forward to presenting another electrifying season of contemporary music,' Barash beams. He continues to provide a 'stage for risk-taking and the exploration of non- conventional sound' and to present a 'relevant boundary-breaking artistic work.' (The Tank NYC)

The annual Helpmann Awards® recognise distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia's vibrant live performance sectors, including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre. The Helpmann Awards also incorporates the JC Williamson Award for outstanding contribution to the Australian live performance industry.

Mikael Eliasen, artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre and Hirsig Family Head-of-Department Chair in Vocal Studies, will lead a week of master classes at Longwood Gardens from June 14 through 19.

Kaufman Center and New York Festival of Song (NYFOS, www.nyfos.org), will present Voices of the Jewish Diaspora on Tuesday and Thursday, February 10 and 12, at 8 PM at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center. It is the third subscription program this season for the New York Festival of Song, whose 2008 CD Spanish Love Songs, featuring Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Joseph Kaiser, Steven Blier and Michael Barrett (Bridge Records) was named one of the 'Best Of the Year' by Opera News. The program features songs in many languages celebrating the culturally diverse Jewish communities that flourished as the tribes of Israel spread out across the globe: Sephardic melodies arranged by Roberto Sierra; Second Avenue specialties by Irving Berlin and Abraham Ellstein; art songs by Ravel and Mahler; plus music by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Harold Rome.
