San Francisco Playhouse (Bill English, Artistic Director and Susi Damilano, Producing Director) continues its Tenth Season, now in their new venue at 450 Post Street, with a revival of Mike Leigh's acclaimed play, Abigail's Party, directed by Amy Glazer.

Alumnae Theatre Company presents The Killdeer by James Reaney, directed by Barbara Larose.

The popular Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD will expand with more action, adventure and humor with the debut of two new animated series 'Marvel's Avengers Assemble,' which continues the exciting adventures of Marvel's most popular super heroes - Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon, and 'Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.,' which features the incredible Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb and Skaar; it was announced today by David Levine, Vice President and General Manager, Disney XD Worldwide and Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President & Head of Television, Marvel Entertainment. Kicking off the marvelous summer programming is a special one-hour preview of 'Marvel's Avengers Assemble' on SUNDAY, MAY 26, followed by the series premiere on SUNDAY, JULY 7. 'Marvel's Hulk and the Agents S.M.A.S.H.' premieres SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 (all at 11:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

'SCARY MUSICAL… The Musical!', with Book by Richard Hochberg and Music and Lyrics by Richard Hochberg and Michael Paternostro, will be directed by Daniel Goldstein and produced by Kevin Spirtas in a workshop presentation slated for February 2013.

Shakespeare Orange County has announced that their 22nd season will include TWELFTH NIGHT or WHAT YOU WILL and THE TRAGEDIE OF MACBETH. The award winning professional theatre company performs in the 550-seat Festival Amphitheatre in Garden Grove, CA.

Musical theater students from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) traveled to New York City on January 18-21 to hone their craft and take master classes with Broadway artists. The customized weekend program was offered to FSPA by Broadway Artists Alliance (BAA) of New York City. Classes were held at Ripley-Grier Studios, where many Broadway shows audition and rehearse. The memorable weekend featured a performance of Broadway's hit Tony Award-winning musical Newsies, including a special opportunity to meet and talk afterwards with members of the cast. Students also enjoyed a special reception with FSPA alumni currently living and working in New York City.

Alumnae Theatre Company's production of The Drowning Girls runs approximately 75 minutes. There is no intermission. Opening Night & Gala will take place tonight, November 17, 2012. The show runs from Friday November 17 through Saturday December 1, 2012, according to the following schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 8:00pm; Sunday matinee at 2:00pm. Talkback with cast & director will take place after the matinee on November 25.

Beth Graham and Daniela Vlaskalic met at the University of Alberta, where they were both studying acting. After graduating from the program in 1998, they teamed up with director Charlie Tomlinson to write The Drowning Girls, a play based on a real-life Scotland Yard serial murder known as the "Brides in the Bath" case.

Alumnae Theatre Company just announced that the opening of their production the Drowning Girls has to be postponed due to a family emergency with one of the cast members, it is unfortunately necessary to postpone the opening of The Drowning Girls by one day. There will be no performance on Friday November 16; instead the show will open on Saturday November 17.

Audiences will be captivated at what happens on stage when the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre presents 'The Madwoman of Chaillot' tonight through Nov. 17, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. But equally fascinating and impressive is what goes on behind the scenes of this SFA production of the play written by French dramatist Jean Giraudoux and adapted by Maurice Valency. The first 11 o'clock number of the evening came at around 8:05, when Marc Kudisch opened Town Hall's The Best of Broadway By The Year concert by caressing Lerner and Loewe's “If Ever I Would Leave You” with his rich, dramatic baritone and superlative musical acting skills.  It was a very appropriate opening since Kudisch, a regular participant throughout the concert series' twelve-season history, very much represents what these evenings have evolved into; a look at what Broadway could be in a commercially different environment.

If you are a fan of the songs of Neil Sedaka, BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO, featuring 19 tunes performed by an enthusiastic ensemble at Ivoryton Playhouse, then love will keep you together. The implausible book concocted to link the songs together in Broadway-show fashion, however, might cause a little laughter in the rain.

2012/13 is a season of anniversaries and "firsts". It's Alumnae's 40th year in this historic building at 70 Berkeley Street. It's the 25th anniversary of the New Ideas Festival. And for those keeping track, the company is closing in on Alumnae's 100th birthday - February 2013 will mark # 95! Alumnae will officially celebrate its 100th season in 2019/2020 and present Moliere's Les Femmes Savantes, which was Alumnae Theatre's very first production, in February 1918.
