Ab Mittwoch, 22. Oktober 2014 ist Richard Wagners Tannha?user in der Inszenierung von Claus Guth wieder an der Wiener Staatsoper zu erleben: Unter der musikalischen Leitung von Peter Schneider geben Robert Dean Smith in der Titelpartie, Camilla Nylund als Elisabeth und Kwangchul Youn als Hermann ihre Rollendebu?ts am Haus. Christian Gerhaher kehrt als Wolfram von Eschenbach zuru?ck in das Haus am Ring, Ire?ne Theorin verko?rpert erneut die Venus. Erstmals an der Wiener Staatsoper sind außerdem die Ensemblemitglieder Sorin Coliban als Biterolf, James Kryshak als Heinrich der Schreiber, Dan Paul Dumitrescu als Reinmar von Zweter und Annika Gerhards als Junger Hirt zu erleben.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced two conductors who will participate in the 2014/15 Dudamel Fellowship Program - Christian Kluxen and Gemma New. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program in 2009 to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education and community programs.

Cast Announced for THE RING CYCLE at Birmingham Hippodrome This Autumn

During the first week of November, the Mariinsky Theatre returns to the UK for an operatic showcase of Wagner's Ring in Birmingham at the historic Hippodrome and three operas originally written for the Mariinsky including the most recent Levsha (The Left-hander) by Rodion Shchedrin. With a 300-strong troop of musicians, soloists and chorus starting the tour in Cardiff with Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery, Valery Gergiev proceeds to London to present Russia's national epic Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov followed by the UK premiere of The Lefthander, both in concert versions at the Barbican.
