Baltimore Symphony Collaborates With OrchKids and Youth Orchestra for Special Concert at The Kennedy Center, 2/6

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce a special collaborative concert with its flagship community education program, OrchKids and its Youth Orchestra, on the world renowned Millennium Stage at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Under leadership of OrchKids Artistic Director Dan Trahey, Bucket Band Director Brian Prechtl, BSYO Conductor Mary Poling and OrchKids Conductor Eli Wirth, 65 children, spanning pre-kindergarten through ninth grade, will perform together for a special concert that will feature a mix of classical, jazz, pop and spiritual-inspired pieces. The ensemble will be accompanied by Chi-chi Nwanoku, Principal Double Bass and a founding member of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Endymion Ensemble, on the orchestral version of Rihanna's "Stay."

Museum of the Moving Image's 3rd Annual FIRST LOOK Showcase Set for 1/10-17

First Look, Museum of the Moving Image's annual showcase for inventive new international cinema, returns for its third year with a program of 16 films from 10 countries, to be presented on weekends from January 10 through 19, 2014. First Look opens on Friday, January 10, with the U.S. premiere of Alexandre Rockwell's Little Feet, a charming and bittersweet tale of two young siblings on their own, starring Rockwell's own children Nico and Lana; all three will appear in person with the screening. Closing Night on Sunday, January 19, will be the U.S. premiere of Antonin Peretjatko's The Rendez Vous of Deja Vu (La fille du 14 Juillet), a colorful and freewheeling romantic burlesque, with shades of French New Wave and Monty Python, set amidst a beach vacation in France; Peretjatko will appear in person. Featured countries for other First Look films are Canada, Chile, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Peru, Spain, and the United Kingdom. All of the films have played to acclaim at international film festivals, and all are New York premieres and many are U.S. premieres. Many of the filmmakers will be present for post-screening discussions.

Blue Man Group to Premiere New Show at Hollywood Bowl Tonight

Tonight, Blue Man Group, the world-wide entertainment phenomenon, unveils an all new, never-seen-before orchestral show at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. This world premiere performance will feature wild collaborations with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, an eclectic array of special guests, virtuoso musicianship, and mayhem on the grandest scale. Blue Man Group will play The Bowl for two performances only: tonight, September 6 and tomorrow, Saturday, September 7 at 8:00 p.m. (PST).
