Boise Contemporary Theater last week launched an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to support partial production costs for the upcoming World Premiere of BCT River Prize fellow Eric Coble's MARGIN OF ERROR (OR, THE UNASSAILABLE WISDOM OF THE MOUSE AND THE SCOPRION), which runs April 13 - May 7, 2016. This is the final Mainstage show of the BCT 15|16 Season.
I arrived at Boise State University's production of SEMINAR to notice that the Danny Peterson Theatre was set up in a thrust presentation. I always love walking into black box theatres (theatres that can be staged in any style, just a large open room to start) to see how the directors have chosen to use the space, partly because I want to see if I can figure out the why.

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, on the campus of Boise State University, announced the establishment of a $50,000 endowed scholarship fund for theatre arts students. The announcement comes on the cusp of a public Celebration presented in honor of the late Velma V. Morrison who passed away in June at the age of 92. 'University theatre students work in all aspects of our venue operations, from ushers to backstage,' said James Patrick, the Center's Executive Director. 'The Center plays an instrumental role in each theatre student's curriculum practicum and the students play an integral role in our ongoing success as a world-class performing art center. Having taught in the Theatre Department, I know first-hand just how important it is to support young people interested in pursuing the performing arts. Like the Center's affordable summer camps and family-friendly presentations, we see this new scholarship fund as an extension of our growing, mission-based education and outreach efforts.'
Idaho Shakespeare Festival (ISF), over the past 37 years has become 'the place' to see [theatre] and be seen in Boise over the summer. The last show of this year is THE FOREIGNER by Larry Shue. This comedic farce made for an enjoyable night.
The Great Lakes Theater Festival presents Oscar Wilde's AN IDEAL HUSBAND playing thru October 30 with direction by Sari Ketter.
