I never saw Sister Act, the Musical when it was on Broadway, but now this is my second Westchester go round with this musical. The Pace School of Performing Arts (PPA) today announced a first-of-its-kind, three-week intensive course in Los Angeles for undergraduate students in Acting, Dance and Choreography for film. The program, which engages industry experts to help students prepare for the profession, is part of Pace School of Performing Arts' ongoing commitment to be the first in the United States dedicated to bi-coastal training in the performing arts. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) in association with Chinese Mother Jewish Daughter, LLC present Rescue Rue, a new musical fairytale with puppets; Concept, Book and Additional Lyrics by Stacey Weingarten, and Music and Lyrics by Kate Steinberg & Joshua Zecher-Ross. Stacey Weingarten directs a cast of seven including Jennifer Barnhart* (Bway: Avenue Q), Nate Begle(Off Bway: John Tartaglia's ImaginOcean), Sarah Liz Haines* (Off Bway: Freckle Face Strawberry), Jason Jacoby* (Off Bway: Avenue Q), Lisa Helmi Johanson* (Off Bway: Avenue Q), Brendan Malafronte (Nat. Tour: John Tartaglia's ImaginOcean), and Gretchen Wylder* (Off Bway: 'Til Divorce Do Us Part). Rescue Rue will be staged at the Ford Foundation Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street (bet. 9th and 10th Avenues) in NYC for five performances from July 8-20, 2014. A special TDF Autism-Friendly performance will be held at July 20th at 11am. Pace University today officially unveils its new School of Performing Arts, Manhattan's first performing arts school in nearly 50 years. The newly minted Pace School of Performing Arts (PPA) began as the university's flourishing Performing Arts department, which over the last three years has experienced unprecedented growth in applications and enrollment. To accommodate this leap in reputation and popularity, Pace Performing Arts moved into the 50,000 square foot building at 140 William Street in downtown Manhattan. (more...)

War, Muslim Relations, Xenophobia and the struggles of disenfranchised youth are among the contemporary themes highlighted in Les Enfants de Paris, a world premiere musical premiering October 3rd as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Donna Drake directs a cast of seven including, Adam Halpin (Glory Days), Nadine Malouf , Sevan Greene (Aftermath, Betrayed), Megan Reinking (Million Dollar Quartet, Hair, Boardwalk Empire), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), Dan Kohler (Blue Man Group), and Blake Segal.
