Gotham Early Music Scene Presents Open Gates Project Concert GLOBAL ROOTS: MI ALMA, MI VOZ, MI CORAZÓN

Gotham Early Music Scene presents the final concerts of its inaugural season of its Open Gates Project, Global Roots: Mi Alma, Mi Voz, Mi Corazón, A Journey Through Argentinian and Armenian Folk and Popular Song on Friday, June 3 at 7:00pm at St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church in Manhattan; Saturday, June 4 at 7:00pm at Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Jamaica, Queens; and Sunday, June 5 at 3:00pm at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Brooklyn. The Friday concert will also be live streamed.

Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon to Present DANCING WITH DICTATORS

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Song Salon will present “Dancing with Dictators” a solo work written and performed by Luis Santeiro. Directed by Ron Torres, with music direction by Paul Greenwood and Rex Benincasa on drums, this one night only event will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 7pm at Theater 555 (555 West 42nd Street).

The Eurasia Consort and the Association for the Promotion of New Music will present the Long Island Premiere performance of composer Alice Shields' Chamber Music America commission The Wind in the Pines - after the climate catastrophe on Thursday, October 28 @ 7:00 PM at Hofstra University's Helene Fortunoff Theater.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) has announced the 2019 MAC Award nominees. The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories.

Five Boroughs Music Festival Presents 'Corónica: An Empire of Silver and Gold'

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) and GEMAS (Gotham Early Music Scene / Americas Society) present Corónica, a collective of musicians from Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Argentina and the US, in An Empire of Silver and Gold on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 7:00pm at St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church.

Sierra Rein launched her much-anticipated debut solo cabaret show RUNNING IN PLACE at The Laurie Beechman Theater in April and May and earned raves for a performance that weaved together American Songbook gems, contemporary Broadway and pop, and new cabaret classics, in an inspiring rundown on dreaming against all odds. Directed by James Beaman with Musical Direction by Bill Zeffiro (with Matt Scharfglass on Bass and Rex Benincasa on Drums), RUNNING IN PLACE features compositions by Stephen Sondheim, Dave Frishberg, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler, Kander & Ebb, and more. Five years after her well-received show 'Jazz and Cocktails,' 2008 MAC Award nominee Kathryne Langford returns to the cabaret stage with a compelling and topical new show, 'For What It's Worth.' Directed by multiple MAC Award winner Lennie Watts, Langford's show features songs by Stephen Stills, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Sting, David Frishberg, Johnny Mercer and Henri Mancini, and more. The show is at Don't Tell Mama on July 13, September 7, and November 13, all at 7 pm.

Five Boroughs Music Festival Announces Programming For 2018-19 Season

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) announces programming for its 2018-2019 season, continuing its mission of bringing affordable, world-class performances of traditional and contemporary chamber music to all five boroughs of New York City. The upcoming slate of concerts marks the organization's most collaborative season to date, including partnerships with GEMAS (Gotham Early Music / Americas Society), ClassicalCafe, Brooklyn Art Song Society, New York Festival of Song, and the LGBT Center ("The Center").

Tony Award winning choreographer and director George Faison (The Wiz) presented Andre De Shields, a two-time Tony nominee, Drama Desk nominee, Emmy winner and multi-Audelco Award and Outer Critics Circle Award winner, with the 2018 Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award at the 33rd Annual Bistro Awards Gala, held at Gotham Comedy Club in New York on March 12th. De Shields received the Bistro Awards' highest honor for his five decades of stage and nightclub accomplishments.
