Last night, August 29, the latest Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sergeant Ty Carter, attended Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. This past Monday, Carter was honored by President Obama this past Monday for rescuing a fellow soldier in Afghanistan. At the end of the performance, Bob Cuccioli (Green Goblin) gave a curtain call speech honoring Carter, and then welcomed him back stage for a meet and greet with cast members Rebecca Faulkenberry and Reeve Carney. Reeve Carney Lands Role on Showtime's PENNY DREADFUL

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the original 'Peter Parker' in Broadway's SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK has landed a series regular role in the John Logan-Sam Mendes drama PENNY DREAFUL. Carney will Exit SPIDER-MAN on Sept. 15 in order to begin filming later this fall.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway's high-flying spectacular, is launching a massive coast-to-coast search to find its next Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, on Monday, August 12 beginning at 9:30 a.m. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the show's original and current star (and Los Angeles native), Reeve Carney (who is scheduled to depart the production on Sunday, September 15, 2013) is taking the trip to Los Angeles to be at the casting call to meet and greet hopefuls.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway's high-flying spectacular, is launching a massive coast-to-coast search, to find its next Peter Parker/Spider-Man! The show's original and current star, Reeve Carney, will depart the production on Sunday, September 15, 2013 and two open casting calls, in Los Angeles and New York, are being planned to find his replacement. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take over the lead role in Broadway's most famous show is completely open to the public. Hopefuls should be males in their late teens to early twenties of any ethnicity. They must have a great rock singing voice. They can be nerdy with an understated sex appeal and a good sense of humor.

Big Star's THIRD is a full performance of the iconic album by an astonishing who's who of rock music featuring famed vocalists including Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile, Marshall Crenshaw, Pete Yorn, Reeve Carney (Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark), Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev) and Becky Stark (Lavender Diamond), supported by an all-star band including Mike Mills (R.E.M.) on bass; Mitch Easter (Let's Active), Chris Stamey (The dB's), Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star) and Richard Lloyd (Television) on guitar; Dale Baker (Sixpence None the Richer) playing percussion; Charles Cleaver on keys; Django Haskins (The Old Ceremony), Brett Harris and Skylar Gudasz on harmony and guitar; and original Big Star member Jody Stephens on drums, all backed with a twenty-piece chamber orchestra including famed cellist Jane Scarpantoni and the Uptown Horns.

Yesterday afternoon, the cast of SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK headlined the Brooklyn Public Library's Summer Reading Kickoff event. DAt teh event, Reeve Carney and Rebecca Faulkenberry performed “If The World Should End,' followed by “Rise Above” with Jennifer Sanchez. The master puppeteers, dancers, and musicians of Cambodia's premiere Shadow Puppet Troupe, Wat Bo-in New York City as part of the citywide Season of Cambodia festival-visited Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Darkthis weekend in between performances of their performances of Sor Neakabas (The Magical Arrowhead Dragon) at Brookfield Place, Winter Garden. In honor of the troupe's visit, the Cambodian Flag was waved by the company ofSPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark during curtain call, and members of the Shadow Puppet Troupe met with SPIDER-MAN star Reeve Carney backstage for an exclusive meet-and-greet.

The 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition raised a staggering $4,250,542 - eclipsing the previous high of $3,734,129 set in 2007. The grand total was announced Tuesday after six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 47 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots), two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Lucky Guy) and Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper (Kinky Boots) were on hand to announce the grand total at this year's Easter Bonnet Competition, which ended in two shows featuring original presentations, songs, dances and 19 intricate, custom-made bonnets.
