The award-winning VITAL THEATRE COMPANY has announced its 2015/2016 season of five musicals for children and families, performed by adults. As Cinderella is forced to endure the bullying ways of her step-sisters, she waits to be saved by her zany fairy godmother who is nowhere in sight. Unfortunately, her wand has run low on power and she can't seem to find her charger anywhere. With just enough power left to call her best bird friend Perez (inspired by Perez Hilton), the Fairy Godmother persuades Perez to take Cinderella under his wing and get her ready for the ball. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the lineup of special events, concerts, student productions, and free developmental readings for its 10th annual festival. The festival also announced three additional full productions. This year's Festival will begin July 8th and continue through July 28th.

The New York Music Theater Festival can easily be considered a harbor for the freshest talents in musical theater. Over a period of several weeks, an astonishing number of musical productions are presented on vest pocket stages throughout New York City. As is often the case with harbors, there is a confluence of talent feeding into it. Not only is this talent from all over the nation, but it ranges from the youngest to the most experienced and they all converge on the city for this event.
As I write this we are less than 24 hours away from premiering 'Flambé Dreams' in NYMF 2012. My journey with the show began two and a half years ago when my wife and I were asked to co-direct a reading of a new musical by Matthew Hardy and Randy Klein. She was visibly pregnant at the time and this is partly how I know the timing so well - I simply take our son's age and add a couple months.
